Because of course Luna would adopt the Hat.Yeah, basically, Didymus, you've all but mentioned pieces of cake now. SUSPENSE.
(There is a vague attempt at hidden Bowie-face, as are present all over the Labyrinth in the movie, but I can't quite claim I pulled that effect off quite as well.)

I think I remember reading in the manga that came out that the hats were actually parasites of a sort. They flew around until they found someone to attach to and that was that.

I really like that the hat's dialogue has evolved since 1986. (Granted, "swagger" has been part of the English language since its first recorded use in Shakespeare, but "swag" over the already great gratuitous Spanish is a treat.)

I kinda do actually think the Wiseman and his Hat are in some sort of symbiotic relationship, but here in the comic it was funnier to have him detachable.

I like to think that there's a blikin feather not visible because of the speech balloon there in the last panel.
Sir D's remark about the maps / changing geography remind me of The Enchanted Forest books (aka the dragon books) by Patricia C. Wrede, where "most people don't even attempt to make maps because everything moves around so much". I don't know if you've read them or not, but it's a happy thought for me.
I like the look on Sarah's face in panel 1: some frustrated because she's heard all of this before from Luna (about the Hogwards hat), and then to panel 2... annoyed disbelief, I think, that Luna would really sort of adopt / borrow the turkey-hat.

Someone else brought that up, and it *could* fit, if you tilt your head and look at it this way - but apart from the deliberate dun-dun-DUN symbolism of the Queen line, anything else that happens to mirror would be coincidence.
