Aha, sorry if this doesn’t really make sense. I’m HORRIBLE at explaining things.

Explanation: So, a lot of people ask for Gavin crying and somebody micool to comfort him. But, to me, I think Gavin is the introvert kind of guy or like he’s not sure about his own emotions and shuts them out; that’s why he just tries to be silly and happy all the time (to avoid drama).

I think the closest person he can be emotional around is Dan, and after moving to Austin (though he loves everybody in AH) he’s not quite comfortable with them yet, so he puts up a wall.

So after being in AH so long, and suppressing his emotions, when Dan comes to visit, he forgets that he doesn’t need a wall around Dan.
(So, if Gavin is sad, he’ll try to fake goofiness to cover it up, and the AH guys buy it, but Dan doesn’t)

“He’s not here” - refers to Michael, cause Dan knows Gavin likes Michael, but Michael is engaged
“He’s not watching” - means Michael can’t see if Gavin cries right now. Gavin doesn’t want Michael to see his emotional side

Eventually, he’s reminded that Dan and him are alone at the moment, and he lets his wall fall for a bit
