Description PanGalacticCorporation

Episode 1

The Essentials

People aboard the Epoxica are members of the Universal company PanGalactic, specifically the help service office. Taking calls for everything from malfunctioning burster engins to Zebbits about to burst into flames and solving these either through talking or coming to solve it manually.
Sadly the Help Service Office is severely understaffed at the moment, the crew of the Epoxica being the only ones under current hire and consisting of only One person.

The Captain

Duc (Ducille) Stevens. Erratic and nonsensical she lives by the motto that life is easier if you just don't take things so seriously. It is a kind of defensive measure developed out of her situation as an illegally abducted Tellusian (the species Homo Sapiens also known as Humans that inhabit the planet Tellus, the earth. Since there is already a planet named Terra the species are, for all but themselves, Tellusians.)

The Epoxica

Antique spacecraft with a multitude of uses and functions that are mostly undiscovered. Commonly known is that to unlock her full potential a few traits are needed, among them the ability to think completely outside of the box, the ability to know without knowing and possessing a heart that rules over a crazy mind.

Duties of the Crew of the Epoxica include:

Deep Space Telephone Help Service. Technical, practical, nonsensical, incomprehensible, diplomatical, crisis handling.

Interstellar Rescue and Salvage Service. As the name says, coming to the rescue when you call, whether you are stranded, marooned, lost or just in dire need of a friend.

Interesting...the idea of an intergalactic help service sounds like it's gonna be a big, funny adventure. I guess I'll find out in the next chapter.

By the way, the one who commented before me is right about groups. You should submit this to at least a few, so that more people will find it.

Finding groups is so hard! ='(
I'm trying though.

Yes the series is supposed to have a lot of humor, it'll be a challenge to see if I can keep the quality up.

Hmm...it reminds me of something...both the descriptions of the ship and the captain.

The captain: 'Irresponsible Captain Tyler' -> A real goon...however, in the course of the story, you kept wondering: Is that guy REALLY just a blabbering fool...or a freaking genius who doesn't want to be seen as such?

The ship reminds me a little of the 'Swordbreaker' (I seem to have forgotten the title of the anime though). The ship itself was a masterpiece of technology which nobody really ever understood completely...to get the most out of it, you had to be crazy.

Please don't take this as insult or anything. It doesn't make YOUR story any less original than it is.

I believe it has good potential. Are you going to post it to any group? Personally I'm a member of 'World of the Writer', so if you happened to post it there, I'd make sure to read it.

Well I don't really have any experience in sci-fi (more of a fantasy chick)let alone writing. So I imagined a kind of mix between the wittiness of Lifters guide to the galaxy and a little Star Trek

As for the personality of the captain she isn't tmuch of a fool, she just likes to joke around. I don't know about the genius though XD
The ship might be a masterpiece, or maybe not, she's just so old no one remembers how to operate her.

I am not insulted in the least, in fact I'm kinda flattered that it gives of the classic sci-fi vibe I wanted. I know it's hard to make something original these days and that someone likes it at all is awesome.

I hadn't thought about posting it to a group but now that you mention it I think it would be a good idea.

Most definitely. If you don't post it to groups, your works will go by widely unnoticed...which is a lot worse than going by 'unrecognized'...you'd basically deny it the chance to 'shine'.

And one of my personal mottos is: 'It doesn't matter WHAT you write...it depends on HOW you write it.' You can have the same old story for the x-th time, but it may still be written well enough to not get old.

Indeed. Though finding groups to join turned out to be a jungle XD

I agree about that saying. Like I think Scott McCleod (the cartoon artist) said "A story about guy who gets bit by a radioactive spider and turns into a superhero has already been made, but it hasn't been made by YOU" or something similar. . .

Yeah, that sounds about right. Just now I told someone (essentially): Just because a title (or topic) has been used before, doesn't mean you're 'copying'. It just 'happens to fit your story as well'.

Oh and who are you telling. You enter 'writing' to the search engine...and then good luck cutting through all the weed. Personally, I've been rather happy with WotW. I get occasional feedback on my stories and the other writers on there produce a rather good quality too, so it's fun to read.

'Author's heaven', a group I once was a member of, was a bit disappointing...nobody ever took notice of my works and the works of others haven't been noteworthy either.

So you see, it's mostly luck and experience.

Luck is a fickle thing. It comes and goes as it wishes. Triangle of success consists of:
Talent - Experience - Luck

Talent and Luck you can't do anything about. Either they're with you or not. Experience however...hard work...can make up for so much
