Description Tara Strong and Cree Summer are best friends since childhood. They have a large resume of various characters they played for many production. One show that they really loved and starred in was Drawn Together; in the first episode, their characters Princess Clara and Foxxy Love sing a musical number that can be considered one of the best parts. When Strong's mom heard the song, she cried. Not out of shame, but because it was so beautiful, and she didn't even care what it was even about.

Strong and Summer also played Disney characters Melody and Kida, respectively. Both characters are barefooters with an affinity to water and can be considered princesses, though they are not included because the former is young and the latter's movie wasn't very successful. Both actresses can sing, though Atlantis: The Lost Empire didn't have musical numbers (which is probably why it's not that popular of a Disney movie). Strong did get to sing as Melody, alongside her good friend and idol Jodi Benson, the voice of Ariel. Later on, Strong would voice two of Ariel's sisters in The Little Mermaid 3: Ariel's Beginning.

I think The Little Mermaid 2 doesn't get much credit as a decent sequel; while I can see how people say it's a reverse-rehash of the first movie, I view it as a movie about a child of mixed-race trying to find where she truly belongs. Ariel fears of her daughter having the same events happen to her like in the first film, which is justified from a parent's perspective. Some may call Melody bratty, but she's 12 years old, so it's somewhat justified. Others would say she's selfish, but she never flaunts her princess status to get what she wants in any way, and if she makes a mistake she'll try anything she can to make things right instead of making it someone else's problem. Similar events that happened to Ariel do happen to Melody, but she is NOT a mere clone of her mother (note the lack of an actual love interest). Even the lesson Melody learns at the end is different; she had to be herself and her family will love her in any form. Also, unlike Ariel, Melody doesn't get her tail back. Instead, she breaks down the literal and figurative walls separating her human and mermaid lives. In this way, she is similar to Kiara from The Lion King 2.

The Little Mermaid and Atlantis: The Lost Empire belong to Disney.
