I always end up drawing Ahadi with a dramatic sunset background... I don’t know why XD. Anyway, I made minor adjustments to his mane design because I hated the way it flowed on the top. I always imagine Ahadi in his prime if life yet I almost never draw him like this (here he would be around 35-40 in human years. Not like the last one I drew of him where he would be in his 20s). I don’t think the TLK lions age like humans but it is easier to reference human years when describing their age!

Anyway, this is Prince Consort Ahadi, mate of Queen Uru and father to Mufasa and Taka. Born in a large pride far from the Pridelands, life wasn’t perfect for Ahadi, but it could have been much worse. He and his sister Johari were the youngest and last cubs sired by the very old Selfish Lion. His mother and her two sisters had wandered until they found refuge in Selfish Lion’s pride, of course, he would only allow the desperate travelers to stay with the pride and have protection if they would have his children. Though the situation was not desirable as SL was old enough to be their father, they had nowhere else to go and agreed. The pride was made up of many lionesses, all of whom were daughters of SL or his many different mates, and the only males allowed in the pride were his sons. In total, SL fathered over 20 cubs, all of whom grew to resent him. SL was not fatherly material and, like his name, was extremely selfish, caring only about himself and continuing his legacy by having many cubs. Many of Ahadi’s older adult brothers were more like fathers to him than SL. Life for Ahadi was mostly uneventful until the oldest son of SL usurped and murdered his father and took over the pride. He forced all his half-siblings to leave. Ahadi and his sisters were forced to abandon their home when they were only teenagers. Though his mother was not supposed to leave according to the new pride leader’s orders, she could not abandon her children and snuck away in the night to join them on the search for a new home. After a long period of traveling, they were welcomed into the Pridelands by the good king Mohatu. Here they would stay for the rest of their lives. Ahadi was somewhat of a loner in the pride. He was always a relatively calm and liked to keep to himself. Of course this became rather difficult when the little princess Uru decided that she wanted to be his best friend. Though he found the cub annoying at first, Ahadi warmed up to her and as the years went by, the two were inseparable and eventually fell in love. Sadly, Uru was to marry a prince from another pride. Luckily for them, they were able to be together through a new arrangement with the prince. Uru’s betrothed had fallen in love with a common lioness and in order to keep the alliance, the prince and Uru agreed that their cubs would be betrothed to one another. Uru was free to marry Ahadi. He would eventually come to be well respected throughout the Pridelands and a close friend of his father-in-law Mohatu. Ahadi was known for his great patience and quiet strength, a rock for the pride and his family in difficult times. When his son Mufasa was born and then later Taka, Ahadi would not have been happier. He adored his sons, and to him, his family was perfect, and he cared more about Uru and his boys than anything in the world.
