I re-read a wiki article...perhaps it's based on a Karmann-Ghia

Even if it's based on a VW Karmann Ghia it still doesn't look like it. The Brazilian body designers did a pretty good job to conceal it and as long as you don't lift the bonnet or lift the whole car that's all that matters. See platforms today where vehicles are built with a lot of the same parts and sometimes all mechanical systems are the same and only the body is different.
