Description This TINY(less than 1/4 of a centimeter diameter)female Green Jumping Spider(Lyssomanes viridis) was on the outside of my rear-view mirror on my Toyota. She had been responsible for a lot of silk "guide wires" that I'd kept encountering every morning on the way to work, until I caught her in the act. I safely removed her to some trees near the driveway after taking a few pics. She was not very photogenic, however, and did everything possible to make sure I couldn't photograph her face.

Oooh, gorgeous! *jealous* I'm too far north to get many of the really striking jumpers, but we still get a few beauties Probably one of the prettiest I know of is phiddipus audax, which is pretty common-- also my favorite spider. Anyway, great pic; it really captures the vibrancy of the green, especially with the dark background.

NO spider is "poison". A poison is a toxic substance that must be either ingested(swallowed)or inhaled in order for it to harm you, like Chlorine bleach, for example, or Arsenic. You can eat any spider on the planet without being harmed, though not all of them would probably taste very good, or have much nutrition. Spiders have VENOM, which is unique since it is made by animals, and is usually injected into prey or perceived enemies. Jumping Spider venom is very mild in its effects on humans, and most, like this green Jumper, are so tiny that their fangs cannot possibly penetrate human skin.

oh yes, i know it..
my english is bad, i try to say venom, but sometimes i can change the words... i have created more than 20 spiders of different kinds... Lycosas, Phoneutrias, Loxosceles, Teraphosas, Haplopelma, Avicularias and Bracyphelmas.... many of them for more than five years... i'm not a specialist, i still have much to learn.. but i'm not a fool ^^ i know the basic....

do you have scolopendras on your collection?

No, I don't keep any centipedes, though I have had some in the past. We have a nice-looking blue Scolopendra that is native to this area, and I've had a few of those, but centipedes don't live as long as tarantulas or scorpions, and they're much more secretive.

I'm sorry you couldn't get a shot of her face, it looks interesting. She looks like she's made of a fresh green leaf!

She WAS looking at me on the first photography attempt, but my camera setting was wrong and it turned out really blurred. After that, I guess she figured out that the flash was coming and kept turning away from the camera. I've had Jumpers actually cover their eyes with their forelegs when I pointed the camera at them; they are smart little buggers and learn FAST that camera pointed at themink spots before their vision, lol1

I like how the background appears to be a bit more navy than it does black. It could be my eyes acting funky, but that's cool!
