Gone,Hunger,Lies and Plague are a series of books written by Michael Grant, they are interesting and full of action.
Iron king,Iron daughter and Iron queen are fantasy books about faries written by Julie Kagawa.
clockwork angel and city of ashes, city of bones and city of glass- followed by city of fallen angels are other great series
Written by Cassandra Clare
I've read all of those and I really liked them, they are fiction and fantasy, but they are good and not as cliche as other books.
If you are not into that I could tell you about other non- fantasy books...and sorry for the long reply
