Basically if someone bids in the last two hours (or whatever time frame the auction sets) more time is added to the auction to keep it fair from people who might not be bidding until the very last minute to ensure they win while bidding the lowest amount possible.

A snipe guard basically means the auction will be extended by x amount of time until the bidding stops; for example, an auction could end at 10:00pm and the snipe guard is 1 hour. So anyone bidding in the last few minutes of 10:00 pm would have to hold the highest bid for an entire hour, and if no one bids during that hour the adopt is theirs. They can place the bid at 9:59pm and the auction won't close until 10:59pm. Of course, if no one bids last minute, the auction ends as usual at 10:00pm.
If someone bids during that extended hour, they must add on another hour. (a bid placed at 10:10 would extend the auction until 11:10; so basically bid as high as you want the first time so you don't have to drag it out till late at night)
Snipe guards are a chance for anyone who has been stalking an adopt to be "guarded" fro
