Description The temple had once been a cenote... torches blaze reflecting the gold these men had crossed hell and high water to gain while the temples guardians wait high above in the shadows waiting for greed to breed forgetfulness; on the ancient warriors backs a symetrical aztec symbol based on the symbol for War: fire and water...
Well ok enough of my half hearted Cussler mucking arround...
Ok so calendar is vector... so is the aztec symbols on the guardians backs oh and their nice lil' spears...
pyramids and the altery back bit are 3d models built by me...
a bunch of photo manip / texturing for rocks
All the rest is painted including me holy ceiling with all its streams of lights
Ah but there was more detail but I'm being all non chalant and ' pro' opting for uttering the mantra 'less is more' while dumping shadows over everything....
All in all I'm happy with it... woo progress

This is cool. It's very city of atlantis meets aztec temple.

I do, however. Have a problem. the proportion seems.... eh, not so grand as i think you are trying to come off as. If you look at it, you got the ceiling as being about 10 of those little robbers high. Which, is like a 60 ft. ceiling? And you are fitting 2 temples in it? Which have over 20 stairs? I will heckle you about this just because i know you like little details. You need to either push something back or pull something forward to create more depth. I would say the easiest way to create more depth would be to put a haze over temples, like they are very far in the background down this enormous underground temple. You would have to take some detail out too. I would say out of the little stair case. theeennn it would seem the ceiling would translate as being taller and the temples would be a little bit more grand... more like the 5 or 6 story buildings you are trying to pass them off as. and there would be a hell of a lot more gold too!!!

Their proportions aren't grand... its built in a cenote most are around 60 to 100 feet, I wanted a sense of depth but without loosing a sense of confinement and claustrophobia ( treasure hunting dudes are being watched about to be attacked after all) ... and I didn't want to make it too 'National Treasure: book of secrets' if you get my meaning... I did put some haze in but promptly removed it as it made things too choked.
All in all I spent about 3 days trying various hieghts, depths and changes etc. I sort of finally settled not on an enourmous underground temple but something darker and more confined.
Fankies!!

Oh, Pix, this is really fabulous. The water is beautiful, as are the white-lit vines trailing down. The light and shadow is impeccable here as always, and I love the glow on the warriors' backs. The light and treasure-seekers in the middle and the watching warriors at the perimeter make a great mood. Shivery, like. I love how the wall looks in context.

I wish that there was a huge version I could look at, like the size of those world maps you hang on the wall...just so I could see all the little details.

I really love the streaming light...
