I walked through the school gate
my head lowered; eyes on the floor

my heart carried the weight of the world
and it raced as people walked past me

I spoke to no one. Who needs people?
more like who really needs me, right?

Everyday was the same sad routine
the torture of feeling like a nobody

I never really smiled with anyone
but I smiled with the boy in the park

I had found a friend to break my solitude
something I never thought I deserved

I still sat alone at lunch time
but his love gave me hope

to feel like I was wanted and belonged
was hard for a girl like me to believe

I put that sweet boy through hell
along with any other friend I made

but out of everyone he stuck with me
his love has been a constant in my life

I was a teenager then....
may I never be one again
