In a society with an alarmingly high divorce rate, why do we feel the need for such celebrations? if I am going to be devoting my entire life and love to one person, I have enough self-respect and respect for my partner not to degrade our commitment with instant instinctual self-gratification, lusting over and exploiting some other human as a piece of meat, like some mindless hormone driven animal.
