Yes, I am a Christian.That doesn't mean I'll be showing up on your front porch
Waving a Bible in your face screaming "Have you heard?
Heard the Good News?"
Yes, I am a Christian.
That doesn't mean I'll condemn you to hell for drinking that glass of wine,
Telling you to treat your body like a temple and keep it pure.
Jesus Christ drank wine, didn't he?
Yes, I am a Christian.
That doesn't mean I'll be picketing your home, your work, your friends
Just because your beliefs don't agree with mine.
That's a little childish, right?
Yes, I am a Christian.
That doesn't mean that I devote my Sundays to God, turn off the phone,
TV and light and read my Scriptures by daylight.
I'm a college student. We call Sunday the "day of catching up."

That doesn't mean that I will spit on you because you deign to walk down the street arm-in-arm or hand-in-hand with a member of the same sex.
God created us all equal, didn't He?
Yes, I am a Christian.
That doesn't mean that I can't accept you just how you are.
One of the first lessons we learn in Church is love for each other and ourselves.
Christ died on the cross for us. Can't we love our neighbor?
Yes, I am a Christian.
I'm not perfect, better than you or first in line to get to Heaven
(To tell you the truth I'm more like 4,476,658,578th or so).
But I love you like a friend, I believe you have merit no matter what you believe.

I might fall, lose faith and curse the Heavens whenever things don't go my way.
I'm in no way a perfect person, but I know that I am blessed.
Because, despite all my imperfections, I am loved by a perfect God.

I commend you for thinking this way and respect you as a person, although I do not respect your religion. The doctrine of your Bible is still not always positive. It fuels the elitists as well as those who are more compassionate. In the end, to be a "good" Christian, Christians have to cherry pick the peaceful messages in their holy book and ignore the numerous hurtful ones.

I think it's great! Balances acceptance with knowledge and awareness of God and what it actually means to "love your neighbor"...to love your neighbor even if you don't agree. God is the Judge, not us.

Nothing against you, but where does it say in the bible that Jesus drank wine? And assuming He did, was the wine fermented or unfermented?

Just a couple I can think of off the top of my head is before his crucifixion during the last supper when Jesus's goblet of wine was passed around the table for everyone to drink from.
Another one that I think they may be alluding to is when Jesus turned water into wine although I'm not sure if it mentioned him drinking it. I think Jesus drinking wine is mentioned in a couple of other places although I'm not exactly certain where since I never really payed attention to that part.
The reason I believe he did drink wine (aside from the last supper thing) is because in that time just drinking fresh water a lot of the time could make a person very sick because often the source of the water they drank from was also the dumping ground for their toilets as well as used for bathing and cleaning clothes. The water in the wells would often be contaminated as well.
To kill germs (although they didn't realize then that was what they were doing) they would often mix wine with the water to prevent themselves from becoming ill or just drink straight wine. So back then drinking wine in smaller amounts would have been considered rather normal because it was a common practice done to prevent serious sickness.

Well, it didn't answer the question if it was fermented or unfermented. Of course, Jesus being the Almighty Son of God, He wouldn't taint his body with an alcoholic poison. And no, it didn't mention Him drinking wine at the marriage in Cana of Galilee, just Him turning the water into wine, though again, He being the Almighty, He would make it pure, essentially grape juice, since wine is made from grape juice, hence they called grape juice wine as well. Now whether He drank it at the last supper or not is up to speculation, and again, to repeat, it more than likely would not have been fermented. Thing is, people like to use that as an excuse to get drunk, since people usually associate wine with alcohol. Those that try that angle usually have never read that part of the bible; they just heard it from someone else without looking for themselves, so they automatically assume that Jesus drank wine, and try to use the marriage of Cana as the base for their reasoning. So whenever someone says that Jesus drank wine, I usually ask them to show where it says He did. I kind of use their own tactic against them, to where I ask them to show explicitly where it says He drank wine, since they sometimes like to use the angle of demanding where in the bible it says not to explicitly do certain things. Kind of pointless arguing with people like that. but anyway, that's why I said that

I do believe that the wine he turned at the wedding was fermented wine because if it was just grape juice the master of ceremonies that tasted the wine would have complained but instead he exclaimed that it was the best wine he had ever drank and that normally the best wine would be brought out when everyone was sober and then once they were drunk the cheaper wine would be brought out but they have saved the best for last, which leads me to believe that wine Jesus turned was true fermented wine hence the statement about it being brought out first for guests to get drunk on.
Because now you got me curious I actually went and looked it up out of curiosity to see if there are any scriptures talking about Jesus drinking wine and came across this scripture. Luke 7:33-34 For John the Baptist has come eating no bread and drinking no wine, and you say, ‘He has a demon.’ The Son of Man has come eating and drinking, and you say, ‘Look at him! A glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!’
I do believe that Jesus did ingest some form of fermented wine, however I personally believe the level of fermentation would have been very light and it wouldn't have been drank straight, but mixed with water to kill harmful bacteria so that Jesus didn't get sick because his human body would have been susceptible to illness. I don't believe he would have ingested in straight but that's purely speculation on my part. My thought is that if he did drink any form of wine straight it would probably have been the non-fermented kind.
Yeah, people do always bring up the water into wine thing and claim that simply because of that Jesus absolutely must have drank wine. It's rather irritating that people always fall back on that one and then get mad when someone points out the flaw in their argument.

Yeah, I definitely agree that Jesus wouldn't have gone around drinking straight fermented wine.
You know, I've never actually thought about the Jesus drinking wine thing before now. I mean, I've heard the arguments and everything but I've never personally looked into it because it never really caught my interest until now.

No problem. I like being able to talk or "debate" with people who don't let their feelings get in the way, and start lambasting me, trying to convince me that I am wrong for believing what I believe. It matters none to me if the person doesn't believe what I believe; it's not about trying to prove how right I am. My hope is to win people to Christ through His wisdom. If people just want to talk and keep things general, fine. No skin off of my back. If a person has a question about something, or if something they said is questionable, I'll engage them in conversation, again not to prove how right or wrong one of us are, but basically to prove the bible right

One thing about this; can you prove by scripture that Jesus actually drank wine?

I can't prove by Scripture that he ever drank wine, unless you look at 1 Corinthians 11:25 and infer he drank wine. However, it was a common drink back in the day, referenced many times in the Bible.

That was referring to Communion. The thing about wine is that it had two meanings in the bible, depending on the place setting; fermented and unfermented. I'm sure that even if He did drink wine, it was unfermented, which is just really grape juice. Wine is made from grape juice, just with additives to make it alcoholic (fermented). Since Jesus was/is pure through and through, assuming He did drink any wine, it was unfermented. His disciples also had unfermented wine as well.
