This is a mixed media "battle damaged" Power Suit helmet I made as part of a Samus Aran / Metroid cosplay costume.Hope you all like it

I wired LEDs to a battery pack that's mounted inside the helmet. It's cheap, simple and effective.

Indeed. Just space the LEDs evenly around the visor and diffuse them so it doesn't blind the wearer, and you'll be good! You could get fancier with it, but for my purposes with this project it worked perfectly.
