he creeps within the dead of night as i rest in peacedreaming the dreams of a thousand poets, blind as not to see
that inside my mind a monster dwells, he's a comfort to my mind
for when my love and duty calls, he holds me far behind
i cannot reach the path of glory, i cannot reach the true
i have shut the brain off to enjoy the monster, shut the lights off to employ the monster, be sure that i don't annoy the monster
