After I dropped my Ayane fanart from Dead or Alive, a lot of folks asked after a Kasumi out of me...right away I didn't have loads of ideas for her, but right now seemed the best time. A fairly solid 150 minutes later here she is.I always loved Kasumi's attitude. Without being a total full-on badass Kasumi's quips, battle talk and awesome moves always let ya know if you messed about she was going to kick your butt. Hope I've managed to capture that. I also love her classic blue and white outfit. None of that '5 different schoolgirl outfits' nonsense, this is where it's at as far as I'm concerned.

No, it's a lovely piece. The main word I'd use to describe your work is "luscious". Dunno if its the colours you use or what, but that's the word that crops up. And I approve of this lusciousness muchly

Thanks, I do work quite quickly. I do a lot of art to keep myself busy as much as anything else, there's not a lot else going on in my life atm so it gives me the opportunity to make lots of art.

I think the only real problem with this piece is that you tend to draw fighters actually looking as such and the DOA girls are more just like blow up dolls so they don't fit in as well to your style. I love the pose, the correct angles of her body and she looks for once as if she might actually pose a threat to someone. Her face has that sort of mean look, like she really would quite like to take you down. Am noticing allot more detail on the hair and face like that I think stands out almost as though it's glowing. Your work is always so bright, stands out and that is something I really apperciate in it.

Actually, I asked for Shak's commentary while I was talking to her on MSN, I used some different techniques on this piece and was interested in some technical feedback on it and constructive criticism. I've commented elsewhere to that effect too so I won't repeat myself and bore you to death lol.
Thanks for sticking up for me, but in this case I asked specifically for critical feedback, and would like to avoid any drama spinning out from this if possible.

I will justify.
Tom has an exceptionally androgynous look to all his people, they are anime and stylized but they actually look like real people. Not the sort of airbrushed, unpleasant mannequin effect that you find happens to be more prevalent in popular media. Where people begin to look more like Barbie dolls than real people and this is especially bad in fighting games where people are supposed to be fighters. And being away from this frankly ridiculous and almost childish norm is something that I have come to expect from him because heβs a fantastic artist.

lol, commenting on this on teh MSN as I speak giggle...I love DOA and really like the way the game actually plays, and wanted to do a Kasumi that looks like she's actually capable of handing out the merciless beatdowns I've handed out as her and been on the recieving end of more often than not.
I wanted to capture how she was back when DOA hit the arcade in the 90s, not the boob-machine blow-up doll that has inexplicably great martial arts skills that she's become now. I've had DOA since the PSX, and she was a really powerful character back then with a lot of character, as were the other girls...now the moves are still there but the badassery has gone

Yeah. Although you did have to unlock 16 different costumes for all the girls, most of which were a bit lecherously, to unlock Ayane. That kind of peeved me.

I assume your referring to what Shak's said, I wouldn't worry yourself with that too much, she's a very close pal (talk to her practically every day ^_^) and I asked her to critique it and be as honest as she could muster, and critique it in as an objective fashion as possible, try and ignore that it's a piece by me.

Please don't get too tied up over what other people say about my work. In this case, I actually asked for it. I'm frankly humbled that you like my work enough that you're willing to stand up and protect it, but in this case this isn't somebody who just knows me through my work taking a shot, it's a close friend of mine who I asked to help me define what worked and what didn't within a piece. She's merely expressing an opinion I asked after.
You're both very supportive of me and people I've worked with to great effect beforehand, it would be really sad for me if the two of you got into beef with one another over a misunderstanding. It'd be especially sad if a piece of my work was what kicked it off.
