It avoids eating sweets because of its distorted sense of taste, despite the fact that its body needs sugar. As a result of adapting to the Poison type, Swirlix now consumes sour and bitter fruits that it mistakenly thinks are sweet. It will essentially lick anything it can find, melting items with its acidic tongue when there are no berries to be found.
Because Swirlix is based on cotton candy, Regional Swirlix is based on sour candy and sour cotton candy, with the Poison type added due to the acidity of the sour candy. I put the puff on its head so he would look like the Warhead candy mascot.
