A friend of mine who's helped me with perfecting my art technique (which ironically will probably never be perfect) requested that I paint her WoW character Draenei semi realistically.It was definitely a challenge. I used stock pose for this, gotta find it again but only for the pose nothing else.
I started this months ago, got upset with it, and basically re started it over the last month, finishing it up today.

There's quite a few flaws, but also from those flaws I learned a great deal about my own technique and where I need to improve. The hair, the horns and the armor are my favourite portions.

Love this!!! You captured the soft light that I find usually associated with the Draenei perfectly. Great job!!

I really like your painting technique on the hair and the horns in particular! The only critique i could give is that the parts of the character seem separated from each other. For example the armor looks like you put a photoshop layer on top of the face layer and that's all. Maybe what would improve it is giving more shadows as parts occlude each other. Oh well, great job nonetheless!

Thank you! yea, the armor especially the one around her neck didn't turn out anywhere near what i wanted, so it's definitely a flop lol. I loved the fire armor and rushed the neck armor. Definitely will know next time to paint everything at once in a tonal layer first so the shadows/etc match instead of doing it in pieces like i did...lol but you only learn from making the mistake sometimes

Yeah I think the neck armor is the weakest part but the lava part of the armor is very well made (even if I still love the horns and hair more xD). Yup making mistakes is a part of the learning process! Keep up the good work!

Meh, not that good. I've gotten interviews but I'm still waiting for replies/been told that it wasn't good. I also got an art test and I'm waititng for an answer but I fear it's not gonna be good. I have a history of failing art tests pretty badly... D: And I have two 3D projects going at the same time but I don't have anything interesting to show on DA (well if I really wanted I'd have some assets...) so I'm inactive here and that annoys me. I hope you're getting better after all that happened to you! *hugs*

I definitely agree with the inactive thing... i know i had things going on, but it still bugs me to see my gallery so empty of new stuff, but i'm waiting for better in game shots of my contract work, and kinda plugging away at stuff to get back into art after everything. Can't wait to see your stuff though when you can get to showing it!
Unfortunately my situation only time will ever help, and I don't think it'll ever stop being painful. But! I'm trying to keep busy, and get back into some art/friend time/work to help so that is helping my mood. Every now and then i cry, still pretty fresh in the old noggin, and i think of some painful stuff...but then i think of some happy stuff.
plus i have you, and other people so i'll get through it -hugs back-

I think I'll post some assets sometime soon because I have some things I can show. I'm just sad that I won't have any finished scenes to show.

Looks really nice I agree the hair is what drew me to the image to begin with. I also like the look of the armour with the firey sense of glowing embers.
