Bio: Dumortierite is a rare quartz in color. She's not quite rare enough to be considered "off color" but she is uncommon. Most of the Quartzes in Blue's court are Amethysts. There are only a handful of perfect Dumortierite Quartzes because Blue's emotional and calmer essence is not as good for creating a soldier as perhaps Yellow would be. Most of Blue's essence goes into more calm aristocratic uppercrust gems like sapphires and lapis lazulis. Dumortierite despite being in perfect physical condition is still a misfit on homeworld. Due to her blue spectrum she is too emotional and compassionate for fighting. She doesn't like proofing or shattering gems. She doesn't like athletics. When she saw Rose Quartz (A misfit quartz like her) rise up and start a rebellion she immediately left homeworld to find a place where she belonged. She admired Rose like a celebrity because of her being supposedly a compassionate quartz like her.

The first problem Dumortierite faced after the rebellion was the fact that she is in fact a quartz and can't escape it. She loves to draw, sing and write poetry. She loves to tend to animals. She loves to sit and read about Science and the biology of organics. However, she can't sit still, is unfocused and has a temper when it shows. She's patient, but when it runs out it can be bad. The second problem is gems being thousands of years old are stuck in their ways. even the rebels wondered what good a quartz that won't fight is to their cause. What does she contribute? What does she bring to the table? Any time Rose was not present (which is most of it) she was bullied by her peers, sidelined, underappreciated and seldom used for anything. The main gem she had issues with was Iolite. She had two friends: Purple Pearl and her girlfriend Desert Rose, an off color Rose Quartz. She still felt bad so she began hanging out with humans in her free time despite being told not to. She fell in love with a human man for a while, but he left her for a human woman after 15 years which is a long time to a human but not long to a gem. regardless she was hurt and began to resent humans. Then the conspiracy to shatter pink Diamond arose. She disagreed ethically with shattering and thought Rose was better than resorting to assassination. She felt like homeworld, humans and rebels alike had abandoned her. She left Earth and hid away in solitude on an abandoned moon base, until found by Stevonnie who was marooned there.
