Mabe is a redesign of an old oc I designed a long time ago and she’s basically just an overcooked pearl.

Mabe pearls are a real thing. They’re large, incomplete misshapen pearls of lesser value, also known as blister pearls.

Mabe was originally created for an upper crust gem named Marble. Her pearl is misshapen due to being overcooked at the reef and therefore she has a short curvy stature and is significantly less graceful than most pearls. Marbles are used as Judges. Marble kept Mabe as a novelty and to make herself look kind and charitable to other gems. In reality alabaster loved talking down to Mabe, reminding her that no other gem would’ve kept her and how grateful she should be. Marble constantly made her feel like a screw up, talking about her pearl to other gems like she was a burden and allowing them to say hurtful things within earshot. Marble even called her “blister” as an insult. Mabe, who was used to being treated that way didn’t realize she was a novelty, so she remained introverted and never talked much, doing her best to be like other Pearls…. Until the rebellion.

I think the base was by undercoverghost but I’m not positive.
