Thanks for sticking with me while I spam you all with boring ref sheets... Especially sorry to anyone who doesn't follow me for horse art! I hope to have some more interesting paintings (still horses, but more interesting ones) coming soon.
Also, it's kind of amazing to realise I made the original ref sheet for Birdie way back in 2012 - I was only 15! It's cool to think this little horse has been hanging out in my imagination ever since then.

Behavior - Handling: Birdie is an energetic and sweet mare. She loves attention - getting groomed and being scratched on her withers are two of her favourites. She'll often give you a firm nudge with her nose if you are within reach and not giving her enough affection. She'll often run up to you when you enter her paddock, but that doesn't mean she'll make it easy for you to catch her!

Behavior - Riding: Birdie is quite sensitive to ride. She will leap off of a nudge and come back to equally gentle pressure. For this reason she needs a rider who will be soft with her, and stay alert while riding so as not to confuse her with accidental signals. She will sometimes throw a buck when she is excited or a bit overwhelmed. Noisy and busy environments can sometimes prove a bit much for her, especially over a long period. She handles three day eventing better than one day for this reason - she gets some time to rest in between being in the stressful environments.
