Personality: Brilliant and headstrong with an occasional dark sense of humor. Angelique is a fast learner and enjoys reading (especially supernatural romance stories or mysteries/true crime and she's currently pretty addicted to Southern Vampire Mysteries/True Blood) and has a bit of a facination with things that are curious, unnatural, or sometimes morbid. She has a strong stomach which has developed from years of doing criminal autopsies.
In her younger (high school/college) years she was a bit of a punk/goth and when dressing casually still can't help but sport a bit of a leather look. (She's still able to pull it off, but who knows for how much longer.)

She speaks with a strong Louisiana/French Creole accent.

Powers and Abilities: High I.Q. and a fast learner. Over the years she has been picking up quite a bit about voodoo/hoodoo from her gran-maman in Louisiana and knows a few simple charms and wards. (It's rare that she doesn't have protections on her body, such as a black cat bone in her pocket, or a mojo bag tucked into her coat somewhere.)

She is fluent in Creole French.
(I only know a little Canadian French myself. So if it comes up in RP be kind, the best I can do is pepper my English up a bit. - Pooka )

Strengths: Strong willed and intelligent. She's open minded and curious about the supernatural, and wary at the same time.
Although on leave she had a well paying job back home in New Orleans and between her own savings and the life insurance pay off from her late husband she if financially stable for a time and has had some good fortune with money. (Perhaps Maman Brigitte, the Loa who watches over good fortune and the dead, has listened to her prayers.)

Weaknesses: She can be stubborn and has been known to have a bit of a temper if really crossed to the point of being spiteful. She's near-sighted and needs prescription glasses.

History:

Born in Haiti, Angelique was moved to America at a young age when her mother was trying to find a better life for both her and her daughter. They had family in Louisiana and after years of living as illegal immigrants her mother married an American man to get their citizenship.

Angelique adapted quickly to a new country, was brilliant in school and due to a bit of a fascination with the morbid (guess who was a goth?) she went to medical school to become a criminal pathologist and gained a job in New Orleans doing autopsies for the police.

Was married to Charles Pascal, who died 2 and a half years after they were wed due to a tragic accident of slipping in the shower. (Angelique is wary of taking showers due to this, and instead opts to take baths whenever possible.)

Her first encounter with the supernatural occurred only a couple of months after Charles death. A young woman had been found dead in her basement apartment, and the body was brought in to be examined. Working late into the night Angelique opened up the body freezer's drawer to have the start of her life when the young woman sat up. The dead woman looked at Angelique quizzically, as if she had just woken up, cursed something about morons taking her to the morgue and before she could really ask any questions the corpse stood up, glared at her, and rushed with inhuman speed from the morgue.

Nobody believed her - well, nobody at her job believed her. She refused to lie about what happened, and the strange disappearance of a body had her under investigation and psychiatric attention. She was declared 'unfit for work' for a time which was blamed on the recent death of her husband, but the missing body was a serious problem and she was put under internal investigations and on suspension for a time. (Which was later covered up by some unknown source. The woman herself was apparently spotted again, but it was glossed over and suddenly the charges were dropped and she was sent warning down the ladder from somebody with sway to never talk about this incident again.)

Being somebody who had read too many modern fantasy novels and used to spend her youth in goth circles she couldn't truly let this encounter slide by. She kept quiet to anybody official of course, but she started to pester members of her family who sometimes still talked about Haiti and some of the practices her family back home were known to perform.

Years ago Angelique took a sabbatical from work to travel to Haiti to visit her Granmere, a known Vodun Priestess. She learned of Les Invisibles, the Rada, the jingo to call them, and watched as other vodun became horses for the Loa. She learned of Le Grande Mystery of the world and was told that her journey had only begun.
She returned home with a greater understanding and it wasn't long before she contacted voodoo practitioners in Louisiana.

Just recently her Granmere called her from Haiti (not a common thing) to request that Angelique travel to the UK to keep an eye on her cousin Mila (1rst cousin once removed, MIla is her cousin's daughter). She is wise to know that you do not cross your Granmere, especially one who claims to easily call down bad mojo on those who cross her. So Angelique has taken another sabbatical from work and boarded a plane for Galway Ireland.

~ She speaks fluent creole french
(but I don't! I speak a little canadian french and at best could pepper her english up a bit. Just a warning if you try to test me IC. ~ Pooka)

~ She had encountered the supernatural in the past, but has little knowledge of much unnatural save for voodoo legend/superstitions/rituals.

~ She nearly always carries wards against evil mojo, such as a black cat bone in her pocket, wards her doorways with lines of salt or red brick dust, and she hands her spirit bottles outside of her home carefully so that they can't be casually seen. She usually has a protective gris-gris from her Granmere in her coat or pocket.

~ She's cousin (1rst cousin, once removed) to Mila Sagaille . (Angelique's cousin's daughter.)

~ She's bound to become 'something' more, but what has yet to be seen. (A variant way of playing a necromancer if the opportunity arises, maybe a slayer with some simple charm knowledge hunting down wicked Bokor and undead, or even an oracle.)

~ Due to it running in the family, she is most likely an unknown werewolf kinfolk.
(I nearly forgot about that until I peeked at Mila's sheet again. >.> )
