This is my redo of Erika 3 (which I will delete in a sec)Erika needed a full body shot, I haven't really done one yet. (as you can see
)She's actually wearing something that's not a shade of gray. I wasn't even planning on that.
I'd have to say, I love her shirt.

I can't really tell what the intent is here so I'll just critique as practice work.
First off, quite a unique character there, don't think I've seen the like much of anywhere else. The anatomy overall is pretty good so no real problem there.
The shading is pretty good, but I think you would benefit from using differing colors(shades/tints) and sizes/softness (or hardness). Correct me if I'm wrong but it seems that there is none of it in some spaces (the white ear fuzz), which makes it kinda stand out awkwardly.
If you're going for a cartoony look, I'd just say you should refine it a little more and perhaps but something in the background that emphasizes whatever you want to. Everything pretty much close across fine in that direction.
If you're going for a more realistic look, for best practice, I'd say keep the line-art, but only in reference (not in the final image). Basically, if you want something to look real, lines will kill you no matter what. The fur could be a little more furry to say. Right now it's very blocky and flat, some smoothing, jags, or texture would make it more clear as to what it is.
All-in-all, the content could be refined, but for now it does translate. The biggest problem I feel it that the purpose, or what this should mean to anyone else, is unclear.

Thanks for the critique, I get the same mixed emotions about it being that it was more of an earlier picture.
One thing in Erika's design that I intentionally put in is that I wanted to make people wonder if she even had fur at all. She has a pet peeve about fur sticking out, so she's constantly smoothing it out throughout the day. It's just in the design.
Other than that, I completely agree with your opinion here.
