Scootaloo: as I gazed over the edge of hill I spotted the next mountain on my path. I looked upon the mountain and I could feel that the mountain looked upon me. At the time I beleved the mountain was challenging me to climb it, yet now looking back I know now the mountain was warning me not to take it's crossing lightly.

A story, huh?
Alright. Here we go.
The wind was whistling past Scootaloo as she looked down from the top of mountain that had once contained a sleeping dragon. 'Both of them; I've ruined my friendship with both of them.' She thought sadly. Her wings were throbbing from the effort they had endured a few minutes before; a quick escape from Sugarcube Corner right as the first blizzard of the year had struck, followed by five minutes of using a tailwind to get to the high mountain top, where her wings had given out. Her scarf was small protection against the hollowing wind that whipped past her face. 'Maybe it's better this way. How could I face Rumble after he saw Applebloom surprise me like that?' She turned away from where Ponyville was; the town hidden from view by the threatening clouds.
'Well, might as well give up.' She stared at a small wisp of snow that was circling her. 'Maybe you can be with your parents again, they'll learn that your just some silly pegasus that can't fly for more than five minutes and managed to screw all her friends.'
'Shut up.' She told the wisp, 'No, it's not the snow. It's you that's talking.'
'Listen Scoots. You're a worthless piece of shit.' The wisp whispered at her. She struck out with her hoof, dissolving it. For a second she sighed before it reformed. 'You can't get rid of me. I'm the cloud you talk to, I'm this snow, your scooter you sometimes mutter to when you're alone. I am you." Laughter echoed within her head.
Scootaloo sighed, closing her eyes. She started to lie down when she thought she heard a voice over the wind. 'No, two.' She amended. Her ears perked up, straining to make out another call.
"Scoot-Scootaloo!"
"Scoots!"
'Someone's here.' She thought, straining to catch a glimpse of bright colour.
'Your fake friends.' The snow whispered to her. She gritted her teeth
"Would fake friends go through a blizzard to see if I'm alright?" She asked out loud, turning to the snow. Suddenly there was a slight cracking. She glanced around to see one of the other mountain peaks had lost it's snow and was heading downhill. Towards where Scootaloo had heard the voice. Towards her friend.

~Elsewhere~
"Are ya sure she's up there?" Applebloom asked the colt who was almost invisible against the blinding snow. Rumble nodded, pointing up at the mountain.
"She can't fly for more than five minutes. With a tailwind she'd only manage to get to there before her wings died." He explained.
"Can ya check ta see if she's up there? Like fly up and look around" The filly continued.
"The wind would tear me to pieces, especially this close to the mountain. We'll have to climb it." Rumble started to move towards the base of the mountain. Applebloom followed.
"Shouldn't we get somepony, like an adult, like Applejack or your bro, or anypony?" Applebloom asked, hesitating as Rumble started to climb.
"And if Scootaloo freezes to death because we spend five hours convincing them?" The colt snapped, "Maybe then you can give your regards to the icicle that used to be Scoots?"
"Ah didn't know that you'd walk into Sugarcube Corner all ready for a date."
"It was a surprise. Or it was meant to be. Then you two just had to be kissing." He stopped and turned his head around so he could look at Applebloom. Above his blue scarf wrapped around his snout his eyes were half closed and full of loathing.
Applebloom started to climb up the mountain. "For pony's sake Rumble, ah was the one that kissed her. Ah shouldn't have but what was ah supposed ta do. Ah like her."
"Well same here." He turned his head to face forward again, then resumed climbing at a fast pace. Applebloom followed.
They were half way up the mountain when Applebloom raised her head towards the summit, which was shrouded in clouds.
"Scoot-Scootaloo!" She called. It echoed through the mountain, carried by the wind.
"Scoots!" Rumble yelled, his voice joining the filly's. There was a small groaning in the distance. Both ponies glanced around.
It was Applebloom who first spotted what was happening. "Rumble! Lets get out of here. AVALANCHE!" Rumble's head swiveled to where her hoof was pointing. A huge cascade of snow was starting to fall down the mountain. They started to gallop away, but the nearly shoulder deep snow was impairing their movements. The snow got closer to them at an alarming rate, eventually small chunks of snow dislodged and shot forward started to land among them.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
~Meanwhile~
'Where are you going?' The snow wisp asked Scootaloo. She turned towards the small tempest.
"To rescue my friends. They'll freeze if I don't help them. I know they will." She glanced down, it was nearly an eighty degree drop if she ran off. Steeling herself she backed up and galloped towards the edge.
'You'll kill yourself. You think you can survive an avalanche'
"I'll be above the avalanche. And I don't give a flying feather about what you say." She hit the ledge before her mind could come up with a response and started to slide down, first rolling in the snow then eventually levelling out and sliding down on her back. The cascade of snow was slightly ahead of her, coming down the other peak and for a second she saw a flash of red and yellow before it was swallowed by the avalanche. With that she kicked her forehooves into the snow, pushing herself forward. Eventually she skid to a halt in the now stale avalanche.
"Applebloom! Bloom!" She yelled at the snow pack.
"Scoots?" A muffled reply came from somewhere in it.
"Bloom, is that you?"
"Ya, Scoots, ah'm stuck under some snow. Ah got a bit of air. Ah don't know where Rumble is though."
"Rumble! He's here?"
"I'm here." The voice seemed to be a bit closer than Appleblooms. Scootaloo took a step onto the snow pack.
"Both of you make as much noise as possible."
"SCOOTALOO!" Applebloom chanted. Scootaloo could tell the voice was coming from the far side of the pack.
"SCOOTS!" Rumble repeated, now she could hear that he was only a few meters in front of her. She stabbed her hooves into the snow, pulling them out and repeating the process until a grey tuff of fur with a stormcloud on it showed itself. Scootaloo soon uncovered Rumble's tail and pulled on it, dragging the colt out. He was covered with snow and his teeth were chattering. Taking a second to make sure that he was alright Scootaloo galloped to the end of the avalanche.
"Bloom?" She asked to get a bearing on her position.
"Scoots!" Applebloom replied, her voice muffled by the snow. It was weaker then it had been before. Scootaloo started digging over where she had heard Applebloom. Rumble limped over to her, assisting the orange pegasus at digging out the earth pony. Eventually they found themselves facing Applebloom's face. She gasped for air, before sighing and trying to free her hooves. Scootaloo dug into the snow beside her, eventually loosening her enough so that she could drag Applebloom out. Applebloom hugged her while Rumble squished her from behind. "If ya ever run off like that again ah will personally drag ya back ta Ponyville." Applebloom muttered. Rumble made a small sound as confirmation.
"You aren't mad at me, are you?" Scootaloo asked both of them. Both shook their heads.
"Well, maybe a little."
"Somewhat."
"But," Applebloom said, "We can discuss that later, right now lets just get back ta Ponyville" The earth pony continued, breaking the hug. She climbed out of the hole and started heading down the trail, followed by Scootaloo and Rumble.
There. A story.
