this artwork isn't really from 2012 right? I'm sure that I've seen this painting in a book of finlay cowan about creating fantasy creatures/figures/worlds, that I've bought years ago. I'm confused now.... anyway I really love this painting and I wish I could paint this good

Fun fact: in the Magic storyline, this art was supposed to depict the villain reveal of Volrath (the horned weird guy) as he shed his disguise. Apparently there was a miscommunication and somehow this art now depicts the woman (Takara, I think?) unmasking her Volrath identity, when it's meant to be the other way round.
Nonetheless, I think this setup makes it far more interesting. And the art is fantastic too. Magic art is becoming a lot more slick and homogenised and it's rare to see pieces with such personality in the new sets.
