hmm, I feel a bit unfit to even comment properly as I don't know all that much about this kind of sword building. But I guess I'll just say wow! your skill doing this sort of thing! That system with smaller wood pieces sounds very time intense. I admire your skill and patience doing that sort of thing and I don't care what you say, I think it looks brilliant!
The wrappings on the handle really look great, and soo detailed. The blade itself, even though you say it is thick, I mean, it's a 9 ft sword... even with metal, I imagine it wouldn't be that unrealistic. Well, considering Sephiroths strenght, I'm sure he could lift pretty much anything The curve is awesome, I see what you mean with the curve could have been more smooth, but still, I'm simply astonished at your delicate woodwork skills. I like how the gold acts. as it seems to be silver sometimes and gold on others. I wonder a bit, the sharp side of the blade, that is silver, right? Why did you do it with those semi circles instead of a flat design, not sure if anyone understands what I'm trying to say, anyway.
Also, you are getting better at presenting with pictures, I think this collage is very nicely put together and it's a cool detail that you added the feathers to take pictures
Yeah, so nice to look at. I'm happy for you, you finally could finish it and wish you a great time! Farewell too and God bless you!

*smiles happily* Thanks Malva for taking the time to write me such a pleasant comment, I always appreciate your support and encouragement
LOL Yeah I'm guessing Seph can swing around tanks if he wanted to, he's a strong fellow indeed. Thanks for noticing my collage improvements lol, I do need to keep working on that. The lighting in the room is what makes the silver foil look gold in some shots, it's yellow light reflecting off the metallic surface. It does look kinda odd, I didn't even notice that lol Speaking of giant heavy swords, I forgot to weigh this one, let me check *goes, will be right back* Wow it weighs just under 5 pounds. It's balanced really well too, I put several bars of metal inside the handle to help balance it, so it feels really light and not blade heavy. The balsa wood really kept it light.
Β Oh, the semi-circles on the edge is called a "hamon" in Japanese. In katanas the steel is heated at different temperatures to make two different hardnesses in the blade. Edge really hard, body/spine is springy. This difference in hardness is visible on the steel as slightly different shades of color, creating the hamon, or temper-line. The smith uses clay in the quenching process to make the hamon, and it varies in design because of that. Sephiroth's Masamune does have a hamon, as do nearly all katanas. Mine is just a simple, scalloped design to mimic the look.
Thank you again my friend, I appreciate the support and kind words, everybody! Always farewell and God bless, and thanks again Malva for everything. *smiles* Best wishes!

hehe, you're welcome X3 and I dunno I don't have much experience with realistic looking blades. All my blade props look very cartoonish. So making something realistic like that will be more challenging. But thank you :'D
