dude, these are the coolest chibi-ish turtles out there. i saw the leo on your avatar and loved it. the others are pretty great too. mikey is killer. you should totally do a mikey skateboarding in this style!

that's awesome! i don't know much about digital art, is drawing process for these the same as drawing traditionally? is it done free hand-like or does the digital program have shapers and templates to use? i'm basically asking if you can draw these in pencil and have them look identical to this digital version.

When it comes to the actual drawing, it's pretty much the same. & I use the same processes. A 'pencil' stage of really loose lines to define the shapes and poses, then 'inks'. Just erase the 'pencils' and bada bing, you've got a dope piece of linework. It's free hand. The program I use (Paint Tool SAI) doesn't have any templates or shapers (at least that I'm aware of) and even if it did I wouldn't want to get into the habit of relying on them. Gotta remain sharp traditionally. So yeah, I can for the most part make images on paper with an ink brush that look as good as digital pieces.
For these turtles in particular, things are a little different. The 'binary' pen draws in tiny square pixels are opposed to smoothe pen-like lines, so you obviously can't replicate that in real life. I could nail the actual style of the characters down to the last detail short of that video game sprite sort of appearance they have.
