Description
Finally got around to redesigning her. Not too much has changed except for mane style and a bit of a body change with the face (I just like that look so much better). I'd like to think of this look to be more of my own style and the old one to be show style.

Just going to put this here since this is now the official version of her.

Because it's so long, I've written a quick version of it. Keep in mind, this is written out of order from the fully written bio. Reading the bios is recommended. For those who are curious, yes, this is an AU and it does follow a somewhat different history than Equestria, will be explained later. (A more, proper condensed version to be released later).

Name: Azure

Backstory: Born in the strict, militaristic, Cartazonon Empire with no horn (see cartazonon interpretation). Azure was somewhat of an outcast though this never stopped her from doing her best to find her place and serve the empire with pride; she did make some friends and never let any teasing get to her as she followed her mother's words "Sometimes, beings are born with the shorter end of the stick, but, it’s what they do with that stick that truly matters." She once was in training to be a proper ground solider, her weapon of choice being the rapier, but once she got her cutie mark, or status mark as the empire calls them, she had to run away in fear that they would dispose of her; her cutie mark and talent associate with it are considered to be useless to the empire. Now, she travels around Equestria, collecting the stories of others while doing her best to stay out of trouble and helping others along the way.

Details: Azure is generally cheerful, friendly, kind, but is also a klutz, can be blunt (usually by accident), gets over excited sometimes, and does not have a good understanding of pony culture leading to some interesting situations. She enjoys listening to others, getting to know them, and making friends. She has a deep fear of dark enclosed spaces as, when she was in the Cartazonon Empire, she was punished by being put in a dark, enclosed room where they pumped in gases that caused hallucinations, blasted odd and unnerving sounds, and starved her for hours to stop what could be considered as bad behavior. When provoked, her insticts as a cartazonon kick in as she become fierce and a force to be reckoned with, though she isn't the best solider, she is still stronger than the average pony (stronger than Big Mac). As she was born with no horn, she tried to find a way to fit in with her horned cartazonon counter parts, so she accidentally stumbled upon a book on psychic abilities during her search for solutions and developed telekinesis, but can only do some much with it for small amounts of time as if she pushes herself, she will get headaches. Always wanting and trying to do what's right no mater how hard, Azure is also quiet loyal and does her best to be understanding of others especially because she knows what it's like to be looked down upon for being different.

Part 1 Summary:

Each category has sub divisions such as strength having stamina etc., flight being able to reach high altitudes, carrying weight without slow down etc., and magic such as ability to learn spells quickly etc. They all have lion like manes and tails, they can be smooth, ruff, fluffy, short, all dependent on the cartazonon. Cartazonons live anywhere between 5,000 to 25,000 years of adult hood before they begin to age into elder cartazonons who will eventually die of old age. A very few amount of cartazonons can be immortal, but they age into elder cartzonons before they become immortal.

  Cartazonon History: Before Equestria, they ruled the land, believing themselves to be above all living beings. Then windegos came, chased them into hiding, and disconnected themselves from the main land. During their absence, the ponies took over their land. Cartazonons considered this to be absurd, these creatures who are inferior have taken over their land with their windegos and two of their kind have wings, horns, and strength as they have? This angered them and they declared war, a war that lasted for three years ending with more than three fourths of the cartazonon species dead. The remaining cartazonons were banished to the outskirts of Equestira where they began to build an Empire focusing on their army to take revenge on the ponies and to reclaim their honor.

  Cartazonon Culture (after the war): They believe that anything that cannot help the Empire is worthless. Those with talents, or as they call them, status marks, that are art based or involve something that will not benefit their community are sent into intense labor, manufacturing useful products and harvesting food; some artist are locked away forced to make art and history in relation to the empire. Those who aren't useful at all are also sent to labor, those who no longer can benefit the Empire are disposed of. All history is controlled by the empire and the only books available are approved history books and informational books like books on science, math, or other approved ideas. Some have their status marks removed using powerful magic, others hide them. They believe that all cartazonons are important, even the little ones, and are not allowed to leave the Empire unless under heavy surveillance, they cannot leave beyond the forest surrounding the Empire without express permission. Only those with shared social standings can have fillies, even those of lower social standings can have children that can rise to higher standings as they believe all cartazonons have potential. Those who are born are tested with a special spell to determine their potential. Once their potential has been determined and they become of age, they are sent to school and placed in classes to build upon this potential. Those who are indeterminable are placed in a special class until their potential can be determined. If they never are, they will usually be placed within the army or in labor, depending on the cartazonon. Their is a leader of the cartazonons, Fortis Dux III, he is accompanied by a council filled with elder cartazonons, all of which are immortal. They aid him and give him advice when needed.

  About Azure: Azure is a female cartazonon, taller than Luna yet shorter that Celestia, her talent is writing (stories she thinks
of and the stories of others) specifically, character writing which is why you see the wolf in her cutie mark as her first story was about a wolf who paints the stars with its tail. Azure goes around Equestria (and then some) collecting the stories of others and, on the occasion, helps those she comes across, sometimes accidentally. Azure is a bit of a ditzy klutz and tends to be a bit brash when meeting somebody for the first time; her introduction starts with her blurting out “Hello!” and is typically nervous or excited to meet them depending on the situation. She always hopes that when she meets somebody new that they become her friend even though she's not too good at making friends when she really tries as she always falters. In order to make friends, as she understands, you must say hello, introduce yourself and smile at them which she tends to do in an over the top manor as she does not understand there's more to making friends than the introduction. Friendships and good relations tend to happen because of her cheerful demeanor, positive outlook, her innocent view on the world at times, and her general friendly feel as she is very friendly and kind. Despite this, she continues to try and tends not to notice the more harsh words thrown at her because of her excitement in meeting someone new. When talking with others she can be blunt, when she realizes that she may be too blunt, she hopelessly tries to fix her mistake.

  Usually, she is friendly, but when she she is threatened or if another is threaten, she will not hesitate to take action and become fierce; you’d do best not to anger her. Azure may look fierce when provoked, but she is not as strong as she appears. She is strong, very strong in fact as her strength could easily rival that of Big Mac, and knows how to wave a sword, her strong urge to do the right thing and moral code not to kill a sentient creature keeps her from exhibiting her full potential even in the most dire situations. There are times when she tries to act big or intimidating, but it is kind of hard for her as her urge to be friendly keeps her from going too far, unless provoked as her more, fierce, cartazonon instincts kick in. She's also a bit of a ditzy klutz knocking things over, hiring her head on the dreaded doorway in the homes of small ponies, and tripping, on air sometimes. When she breaks something, she does her best to fix or pay for whatever she did. Oddly enough, her clumsiness has helped her a few times, for which is feel fortunate to be a klutz. She is courageous, especially if somebody is in danger, but has a deep rooted fear of dark, enclosed spaces (to be explained in backstory) which sends her into an uncontrollable panic. Aside from that, one of her other fears is rejection which she has learned to coop with, causing other to be placed into danger, and being captured (to be explained in backstory). She does not like to to be alone, but knows, sometimes, its for the best and deals with it. When it comes to her deeper rooted feelings of sadness, loneliness, and fear, she prefers to keep it all bottled up inside as she does not want to bother or make others feel bad, feeling that she can take care of it herself.

  When it comes to traveling, she does not stay in one place for too long (to be explained in backstory) and has no set direction other than to travel, talk with all kinds of creatures, and try to find a place to sleep that is not too cold (has a budget issue). Despite her not so great circumstance, she does her best to make the best of it and generally receives help along the way by the kind creatures who give her housing and food of which she is very thankful for and does her best to repay the favor. Sometimes, she forgets about her differences from the ponies and other creatures as she is much larger than them and stronger which can lead to some issues like accidentally making houses shake as she gets excited and will bounce up and down, hitting her head on low ceilings and archways, or accidentally knocking things over and breaking them, usually by her long lion's tail. Azure also has developed psychic abilities, but they are not all to strong, using them for too long can give her a headache. To use her abilities, she must place most, or all of her concentration on the object in question which can cause problems on the battle field as she is a sword fighter (to be explained in backstory). All she can really do is lift objects, but not ones that are too large (further in her story, she does develop other psychic abilities such as clairvoyance). When not traveling or fighting, she likes to read (stories of adventure and whimsy), write, illustrate her characters (not that she's all too good with it), watching clouds float along and picking out what they look like, and jokes; Azure does not have a good sense of humor and enjoys puns and bad jokes in general. Many describe meeting Azure to be an unforgettable experience, each having their own reasons and descriptions, whether it be a good or bad meeting, an odd one, or a interesting one, Azure is one interesting creature.

She was treated differently in school in and in different ways; there are three different ways a cartazonon saw her. At first, the teasing bothered her and she approached her mother about it. She told her the most important lesson she will ever learn that as she said to her “Sometimes, beings are born with the shorter end of the stick, but, it’s what they do with that stick that truly matters.” Azure took this to heart and instead of allowing their words to get to her, she completely tuned them out, sticking to what she felt was right and going on her own path. Because of this, she really didn't make any friends. It's not that she didn't want any friends as she wanted to have friends, but she ended up forgetting not to tune out everybody.

  Eventually, she made a few friends, starting with Silver Lance. He was said to be the one to bring back honor to the cartazonons. Genetically engineered to be the strongest in all areas, Silver Lance was trained and raised to be the perfect warrior. When he saw Azure's bag taken from her as bullies teased the fact she didn't have a horn, thus, no magic, he stepped in and helped her get it back, he offered to give her special training to help with her disadvantage. From this moment, they became the best of friends, she even became friends with Silver Lance's close friend, Blazing blade. Together, they trained, went on missions, and hung out, though Azure and Lance were closer friends going to the library to read books together, going on walks, and talking about their fears and worries. Everything seemed to be going well for Azure, better than anybody could have hoped for especially in her situation. Little did they know that everything was about to change. During one of Azure's forest patrols, she came across a traveling pony. If a cartazonon solider comes across an intruders in their forest, they are to be captured. Azure made a move to capture the pony, but she tripped into his view startling him. Azure quickly got back on her hooves and threatened his life to the pony's surprise. The pony then began to explain himself, and Azure listen. Though it goes against everything she has learned and was raised to believe, she decided to let the pony go, but the pony didn't go. He was a traveling historian, a gather of history, culture, and such from all over. Azure was interested by this, so the pony gave her a way to smuggle in some of his books; if the cartazonons ever caught Azure doing this, they would call it treason and dispose of her. She used a small, magic pouch that had endless space which she hides in her massive mane to smuggle books in and out. Every so often, the pony would come and visit Azure as they used a special whistle that only the holders of the whistles could hear to let one another if they were available.

  At some point during this time, Lance was trying to help Azure find something to serve in place of a horn. They would read through all the books in the library and even books they got from the research laboratory attempting to find anything that would help them, but they were unable to find anything. When going to put the books she was reading away, she ended up tripping and finding a book, she asked the librarian for help as she could not reach it. She handed Azure the book and allowed her to keep as she did not recognize it. Azure took it back home with her to find it was a book that could teach somebody how us psychic abilities if they had them buried within them. Azure tried what was mention and found that she had potential so she went to work practicing until she could lift a small quill an inch off the ground which led to her having a bad headache. She went to show her parents who were frightened that the Empire may not like her new ability, they may find it a threat or too strange, so Azure kept it a secret, but did share it with Lance. As time went on, she continued on with he life as a soldier and her other secret life. Then everything for Azure changed drastically. It was a stormy night, rain was pouring down hard, lighting was going off in all directions, and the wind was not holding back, it was a scheduled storm as they were doing a test run just outside the Empire with using the weather as a weapon, some of which made it over to the Empire, but not enough to cause any real damage. Azure was laying down in a secluded part of the library where Lance and her hangout in secrecy, wrapped in her cloak, reading the books the traveling pony gave her when she had an idea, what if she made her own story. She quickly grabbed a quill, ink, and parchment and began to think of her favorite stories which was the lore of the wolves, the civilized ones; their lore was so fascinating to her. So she began to write a story about a wolf goddess who paints constellations in the skies with her tail. She then began to imagine what this wolf goddess looked like and she began to draw it at the bottom of the page. Writing this filled her with great amounts of joy and fulfillment, as if she had been doing it her whole life, . Lance eventually came into the library, his arrival made late by the storm. Azure was so excited about her story that she showed him immediately, though Lance was not very interested in the tales like Azure was, but he humored her anyways.

  After spending some time with Lance, she headed back home. When she got home, she removed her cloak to the horror of her parents. Right there, on her flank, was her status mark, showing her talent in writing. Azure was ecstatic, forgetting for just a moment what that really meant for her. Out of frustration over the failure of his daughter, her father lunged at her only to be stopped by Azure's mother. She held him down and told Azure to run. Azure reluctantly ran up to her room, collected all her books, her rapier, and ran back down to cover her body with the cloak. She ran frantically to the gate with a plan for her escape. Azure's frantically running caught the attention of Lance who she did not notice as she ran past him. Azure made it to the gate, proclaiming she saw a cartazonon escaping from the Empire and they let her go without placing tackers and such on her. She made a break for it running as fast as he legs could take her through the forest, making her way to freedom, but before she could, Lance stopped asking her what was wrong. Azure told him the truth causing Lance to step aside, Azure asked him for a few favors before running off into the stormy night. Azure's mother was soon caught and Azure's secrets were all revealed. This, however, did not anger Fortis, instead, he wanted Azure captured alive as she had been tainted and led astray. When she is recaptured, she will be given a talking to, to remind her of where her loyalties lie. Azure managed to make her way to a small town where she took on some odd to earn enough money to get herself a cart and some supplies as carrying everything in her little pouch could lead to trouble if she lost it. A nice pony did allow her to live with her during her time in the town and even gave her the idea to collect stories from the creatures she met. After spending a week in the town helping out, they gave her a cart filled with supplies for free as a way of saying thank you for the help. Azure thanked the towns folk and lamented that she could not stay longer because if they ever found her there, as they were surly looking for her, they may destroy the town and all who live within it. And so, Azure began her journey around Equestria, always on the run, collecting the stories of those she meets and helping those she can.

Before they could make the decision, an elder from the counsel stepped forward and said her being born without a horn could be a sign that she could show great prowess in flight, more so than any other cartazonon before her especially since her parents are such strong fliers. So they let her live. When given the test, she was indeterminate, so they placed her in the army in hopes she will show promise to be a strong solider. Her parents did try all kinds of things like magic gems and spells to create a horn or give her similar magic to a horn, but nothing worked. With time, she showed she made for a strong soldier as they had hoped, but not as they thought. Her strength was in her physical strength, not her flight, so she would be a ground solider. Her weapon of choice is a rapier. At first, she really didn't see herself as any different from the other cartazonons, until her school days. She was treated differently in school in and in different ways; there are three different ways a cartazonon saw her. The first picked on for not having a horn, the second saw her not having a horn as a sign of potential greatness and didn't feel worthy talking to her, and the third just didn't care for her either way and are neutral. At first, the teasing bothered her and she approached her mother about it. She told her the most important lesson she will ever learn that as she said to her “Sometimes, beings are born with the shorter end of the stick, but, it’s what they do with that stick that truly matters.” Azure took this to heart and instead of allowing their words to get to her, she completely tuned them out, sticking to what she felt was right and going on her own path. Because of this, she really didn't make any friends. It's not that she didn't want any friends as she wanted to have friends, but she ended up forgetting not to tune out everybody.

  Eventually, she made a few friends, starting with Silver Lance. He was said to be the one to bring back honor to the cartazonons. Genetically engineered to be the strongest in all areas, Silver Lance was trained and raised to be the perfect warrior. When he saw Azure's bag taken from her as bullies teased the fact she didn't have a horn, thus, no magic, he stepped in and helped her get it back, he offered to give her special training to help with her disadvantage. From this moment, they became the best of friends, she even became friends with Silver Lance's close friend, Blazing blade. Together, they trained, went on missions, and hung out, though Azure and Lance were closer friends going to the library to read books together, going on walks, and talking about their fears and worries. Everything seemed to be going well for Azure, better than anybody could have hoped for especially in her situation. Little did they know that everything was about to change. During one of Azure's forest patrols, she came across a traveling pony. If a cartazonon solider comes across an intruders in their forest, they are to be captured. Azure made a move to capture the pony, but she tripped into his view startling him. Azure quickly got back on her hooves and threatened his life to the pony's surprise. The pony then began to explain himself, and Azure listen. Though it goes against everything she has learned and was raised to believe, she decided to let the pony go, but the pony didn't go. He was a traveling historian, a gather of history, culture, and such from all over. Azure was interested by this, so the pony gave her a way to smuggle in some of his books; if the cartazonons ever caught Azure doing this, they would call it treason and dispose of her. She used a small, magic pouch that had endless space which she hides in her massive mane to smuggle books in and out. Every so often, the pony would come and visit Azure as they used a special whistle that only the holders of the whistles could hear to let one another if they were available.

  At some point during this time, Lance was trying to help Azure find something to serve in place of a horn. They would read through all the books in the library and even books they got from the research laboratory attempting to find anything that would help them, but they were unable to find anything. When going to put the books she was reading away, she ended up tripping and finding a book, she asked the librarian for help as she could not reach it. She handed Azure the book and allowed her to keep as she did not recognize it. Azure took it back home with her to find it was a book that could teach somebody how us psychic abilities if they had them buried within them. Azure tried what was mention and found that she had potential so she went to work practicing until she could lift a small quill an inch off the ground which led to her having a bad headache. She went to show her parents who were frightened that the Empire may not like her new ability, they may find it a threat or too strange, so Azure kept it a secret, but did share it with Lance. As time went on, she continued on with he life as a soldier and her other secret life. Then everything for Azure changed drastically. It was a stormy night, rain was pouring down hard, lighting was going off in all directions, and the wind was not holding back, it was a scheduled storm as they were doing a test run just outside the Empire with using the weather as a weapon, some of which made it over to the Empire, but not enough to cause any real damage. Azure was laying down in a secluded part of the library where Lance and her hangout in secrecy, wrapped in her cloak, reading the books the traveling pony gave her when she had an idea, what if she made her own story. She quickly grabbed a quill, ink, and parchment and began to think of her favorite stories which was the lore of the wolves, the civilized ones; their lore was so fascinating to her. So she began to write a story about a wolf goddess who paints constellations in the skies with her tail. She then began to imagine what this wolf goddess looked like and she began to draw it at the bottom of the page. Writing this filled her with great amounts of joy and fulfillment, as if she had been doing it her whole life, . Lance eventually came into the library, his arrival made late by the storm. Azure was so excited about her story that she showed him immediately, though Lance was not very interested in the tales like Azure was, but he humored her anyways.

  After spending some time with Lance, she headed back home. When she got home, she removed her cloak to the horror of her parents. Right there, on her flank, was her status mark, showing her talent in writing. Azure was ecstatic, forgetting for just a moment what that really meant for her. Out of frustration over the failure of his daughter, her father lunged at her only to be stopped by Azure's mother. She held him down and told Azure to run. Azure reluctantly ran up to her room, collected all her books, her rapier, and ran back down to cover her body with the cloak. She ran frantically to the gate with a plan for her escape. Azure's frantically running caught the attention of Lance who she did not notice as she ran past him. Azure made it to the gate, proclaiming she saw a cartazonon escaping from the Empire and they let her go without placing tackers and such on her. She made a break for it running as fast as he legs could take her through the forest, making her way to freedom, but before she could, Lance stopped asking her what was wrong. Azure told him the truth causing Lance to step aside, Azure asked him for a few favors before running off into the stormy night. Azure's mother was soon caught and Azure's secrets were all revealed. This, however, did not anger Fortis, instead, he wanted Azure captured alive as she had been tainted and led astray. When she is recaptured, she will be given a talking to, to remind her of where her loyalties lie. Azure managed to make her way to a small town where she took on some odd to earn enough money to get herself a cart and some supplies as carrying everything in her little pouch could lead to trouble if she lost it. A nice pony did allow her to live with her during her time in the town and even gave her the idea to collect stories from the creatures she met. After spending a week in the town helping out, they gave her a cart filled with supplies for free as a way of saying thank you for the help. Azure thanked the towns folk and lamented that she could not stay longer because if they ever found her there, as they were surly looking for her, they may destroy the town and all who live within it. And so, Azure began her journey around Equestria, always on the run, collecting the stories of those she meets and helping those she can.
