Description My first two entries for 's contest! Boy, it was hard for me not to keep these beauties, but I don't know what to do with them, so yeah! By the way, trying a new style and I love it!

Aria (Left):

Parents - Au Jus and Diamond Dust

Species - Unicorn

Sex - Female

Cutie Mark - A stage with a spot light, a representation of her love for performance and being center stage

Special Talent - Singing, specifically opera music

Occupation - Singing for the Canterlot opera house

About the Character:

Aria is best described as elegant. A site to behold in Canterlot, this golden voiced lady catches the eyes of many stallions. She enjoys going to parties and social events and mingling with fellow singers and musical artists. With her status in Canterlot as an opera singer, she's often invited to many events not that she minds. Aria loves all kinds of music having a specific love for opera music, jazz, blues, some rock, and show tunes, a liking/respect for pop music and polka, and a dislike for metal and techno. Regardless, she will listen to anyone or anything, especially if it catches her attention. She's often on the look for new talent and will go to open mic nights, bars, or seeing any new performances in the area. If she finds anyone she feel has what it takes, she will recommend them to any manager searching. She's a smooth talker, very charismatic, and at times gets a bit wild at parties especially when excited. A peculiar thing about her is her sense in which she can pick up on rhythms, harmonies, melodies, and being able to tell what setting needs what music. She just get this rushing feeling throughout her body, but specifically in her ears that twitch a little when she does. At times, she can be a bit huffy when ponies become pushy around her or try to dress her up, she likes to do her own make up. There are also times where she can be a bit of an attention seeker, but she tries to keep this in check despite being a bit difficult. One of her worst flaws, to her, is her inability to play any instrument. Sure, she can hit things, create a rhythm, and so on, but no matter how hard she tries, she just can't do it. After trying to learn how to play the sax and her constantly sounding like a dying elephant, her mother thought it'd be best if she focused on her voice; this was also after her poor attempt at playing the violin, the flute, and destroying all the strings on a guitar... don't ask.

Backstory:

Ever since she was young, she loved music, any music, any beat, it mesmerized her. Her love was helped by her mother being a manager and her grandparents being both instrument players and enjoyed singing. It was actually those grandparents that got her to try to sing to begin with and show great promise. Whenever they got to spend time with each other, they would teach her about how to have fun with music while her singing teacher was more strict and taught technique. It wasn't until she saw her first opera that she found which genre she wanted to follow. The way they sang, the power in their voices, it captured her in a way nothing else had. Sure, she loved songs with a strong rhythm, but they didn't always have such a powerful force behind it if at all. From then on, she practiced in singing in this style and when the school talent show finally came, she, with much prodding, went on the stage to preform. At first, she breathed heavily, this was the first time she sang under a spot light and in front of so many ponies. What snapped her out of her stopper was her grandparents cheering, blowing horns, and waving her on and her parents on the side giving supportive nods and smiles. The moment her mouth opened, it was like all the air was sucked out as the place was dead silent aside from her voice. When she finished, the crowd cheered for her and her cutie mark appeared. Once she left school, her mother pulled a few strings to get her started in the local opera house as an extra, then she worked her way to understudy, then a side character, then, finally, her big break and has been mostly landing leading roles wherever fit her best.

Permafrost (Right):

Parents - Frostbite and Void Star

Species - Dragon/unicorn hybrid with some alicorn linage

Sex - Female

Cutie Mark - An ice star with sparkles around it, represents her love for ice sculptures and that it's where she shines

Special Talent - Creating ice sculptures

Occupation - Part time ice sculpture, part time peace keeper

About the Character:

Permafrost is the quiet type, not one to speak unless needing too. For a time, her parents thought she was mute because of this, but one day, she said snow when seeing the first snow fall in Canterlot. In some ways, she's compared to a cat with how silent she is and how she tends to creep up on others from behind as she watches them from over their shoulder or off somewhere so as not to bother others. Mostly, whens he communicates, she tends to just show or maneuver someone into the answer. There are times where she'll talk or have conversation, just not often. She loves the cold, winter, the Crystal Empire because snow. On the first snow fall, she will run out and roll and play around a bit, but when going to the Crystal Empire from Canterlot or the dragon lands (which she doesn't really like), she'll roll around immediately when in the presence of snow. Despite the love of the cold, she's considered to be a warm presence wanting to fill others with warmth. Despite this, she does find warm baths enjoyable, a little warmth now and again can be nice. She's a lover and snuggler, be ready for hugs, she's also very touchy and likes to touch others. Tactile things interest her and will touch something if it looks like an interesting thing to touch. Being in areas too warm is not entirely uncomfortable, just unfavorable and will be more quiet as such. Permafrost does have an affinity for ice magic which she, a couple times, as a child, exploited to make rooms cold or to make snow to play in indoor which many were upset about. She's a sensitive soul, but does bounce back when given time. Despite being a lover, if her family is threatened, she can be very frightening and will fight to defend them, but otherwise will hide and/or run. She can be a bit naive and can miss out on certain things socially which can lead to some finding her annoying, but she means well.

Backstory:

She was born on a very cold, snowy night, a fitting night for such a snow loving girl. Like her dragon hybrid father, her talents lie in the snow and ice base magic. For the first part of her life, she stayed in the Crystal Empire which was perfect for her. It didn't take her long to find her talent which was ice sculpting. Her love started with making snow ponies and sculpting them further until she tried sculpting ice based on the suggestion of a local ice sculpture who noticed her snow sculptures; she still sculpts snow sculptures. Her childhood was fun and joyful and enjoyed her trips to see her grandparents, Luna and Celestia (they adopted Void Frost still as sisters for those who don't know). Things changed when tensions started to build between the dragon lands and Equestria. It almost seemed as if a battle would break out despite the efforts of her father. During one of her dragon hybrid father's trip to the dragon lands, she came with him so she may learn a bit more about their responsibilities and what she might one day take on. A fight nearly broke out that day, but she managed to help ease tension with her silent calm, yet stern in this case, way of communicating and her warm presence which helped to calm them down. After seeing this, her fathers taught her more about politics so she may help to keep the peace between the lands. She, has since, became a peace keeper between the two species and hopes to one day, have more dragons come to Equestria and ponies to the dragon lands to help relations.
