Historical fashion commission for Rose--Prince !!I drew his character Marcello in 1790s Incroyable fashion owo! The Incroyables were younger members of the aristocratic class who survived the Revolution. Their over the top fashion sense distinguished them from common people and allowed them to connect with each other more easily after being scattered by the revolutionaries. The Incroyables carried walking sticks with vinelike embellishments which they called their "executive power" and they often spoke with a lisp to avoid pronouncing the letter R (as in revolution).
I decided to draw Marcello wearing this kind of fashion mostly because he has alot of piercings and a pretty punk look, which reminded me of the against the grain attitudes of the Incroyables.
Fun fact: I'm reading this T H I C C book about the French Revolution, so if you have any questions about it I can try to answer them!!
Another fun fact: Benjamin Franklin was pretty much universally beloved in France. They just thought he was a super cool dude.
