Taken halfway between Kailua Kona and Waiamea, Hawaii

I rarely see full sunsets in Hilo where I live because the mountains conceal the setting sun. Yesterday my family took a road trip to the west side of the Big Island to visit Kona. We where there until the late evening and as we were traveling back I took as many photos as I could of the sun as it was setting. It is not a full sunset because it is not at the waterline yet (that floating light patch far below the sun).

There was a veil of vog (volcanic smog) in the atmosphere yesterday which lent to the heavy gold color in the horizon. I was also in a moving vehicle at the time and so the closest clouds may have been blurred a bit

By the time the sun did go down we were already on the east side of the Big Island and so I didn't get a picture of that.
