Wish I could find one before they are banned Can you believe that Maryland bans this and the M1A/M14SA but the Colt Ar6721, FN FS2000, and the LR-308 are exempt? Anyway, I love your rifle

you could try to mill your own using an 80% lower, you just cant sell or transfer it to anyone else. Metal finishing shops should be around any industrial park for the deburring/sand blasting process(yellowpages). Also there are some DIY anodizing kits out there for the coloring process. Laser engravers can engrave anything but a serial number since that involves paperwork that isn't necessary. Im from CT, so that should say it all.

Thanks though I think I'll save my money for moving out as soon as I can. No state where the M1A/M14 is banned is worth living in anymore. It's like the banned America. It would be too hard to machine an M14 receiver, and Marylanders can still get heavy barreled AR-15s cash and carry so long as they don't have 2 of the following: 1. A flash suppressor, 2. a Folding Stock, I think they meant collapsible/telescoping stock, but they were too stupid to realize the difference and the law is already written , and the most dangerous of all 3. the dreaded and dangerous grenade/flare launcher

wow, they banned the M1a/M14? Well I'll be moving out of my state in 2-3 years, the new gun laws was the final straw. Too expensive, insurance too high, and too taxed.

Yeah, I couldn't believe they did either, especially since the Mini-14 is exempt. They had a list of long guns that by law in MD you have to be 21 to get and go through a State Police check, and they took that list and made it into a banned list. I'm not sure they reviewed what was in it, since heavy barreled AR-15s were exempted, then again the threat of gangbangers roaming the streets of Baltimore with rifles that are 3 1/2 feet long, weigh 11 lbs loaded, cost about as much as six new Ruger p95s and shoots ammo that costs about $1.25 a shot was too likely of a danger to go unsolved . I have a five year plan myself (wish I could get out before the 2016 election but I can't help that), I can't deal with this anti-gun crap and all the taxes. Heck, the governor made a Rain tax this year!

we had two public hearings to make our case, guess what, logic nor reason can get through the anti-gun repulitards and faggotcrats. Most politicians are only in it for one person, them selves.

At this point I only care if they let me get an LRB Arms M14SA when I can save up for one, and let me keep at least 2/3 of my paycheck. Hoping for anything else from those bums is setting oneself up for a let down.

never heard of them, are they better than springfield armory?

Capt-Blackadder In reply to Kensai-Kaze [2013-04-28 04:46:25 +0000 UTC]

They make theirs from forged receivers instead of cast, which makes them more similar to the military M14. The are better in that respect, but I'm not a M1A snob like many who would say Springfield Armory is "garbage." Either one will be great, but I like to support the smaller firms as much as possible, and I am in love with their M14 Medium Match. Though with the ban I might just settle with buying the SA or just saving for a move. Here is a link: [link]
Also, though their prices have gone up due to demand, and they use cast receivers like SA, Fulton Armory is pretty good too. They might have to stop production of M1As when the Maryland Ban goes into effect on Oct. 1, 2013.

One could definitely find worst than an LRB Arms M14SA

that sucks.
If you wanted the monolithic upper, then I would just buy the Colt Ar6721 and then buy the upper. The FS2000 is a nice gun, but to me not worth the money, and spare parts are hard to find.

Yeah, and for the price of an FS2000 I could get 2 Colt AR 6721s and have some money left over for some ammo.

Metal>Plastic evertime

Its not that plastic is not bad, but It needs to be priced right. Kind of like Glocks, they are plastic but they don't cost a lot, unlike all the plastic bullpups and other piston carbines, where they are priced at 2+grand.

Yeah, no hunk of plastic should cost as much as an m1a/m14.
