I love the idea of this and I think that it flows well. And I think that the head does have to be at an angle because otherwise the angle of the stripes on the hat wouldn't flow correctly with the shadow lines. However I think that there's just too much shadow in the neck and lower side of the face and left shoulder as if blocked out too much in the center of the photo. Not sure how else you would manage the light as I don't know what the set up was but I really love the idea and the photo is adorable.

First of all. Love your work and this shot!
I was drawn in by the abstract feel created by the lines on the hat and the shadow. I truly enjoy the colors in the clothing and feel it adds a playful touch.
But I have to say this may have been a touch more interesting if the hat (or head) was straight on. I am wondering how it would look with the hat lines flowing horizontal?
Frankly I do this to myself all the time, I take a bunch of photos, then when I'm looking through them, I think.... "aww I should have done this! Or that?!"

I love the line on line effect created by the shadows and the hat pattern. I also like how the child's eyes are partially hidden.
