Description
New mixed media piece. Cutouts, acrylic, oils, gouache, scanned and further manipulated and constructed. A good friend of mine will be writing a piece of poetry/prose to accompany this. I will post that in here as well as soon as it is completed. Comments and critiques are welcome. Enjoy.Full view is a must!

Absolutly inspiring! It's like the insides of a rotting carcass that just turns into that key hole. Fantastic surreal work and imagery. The textures you've achived and your use of color is sorta grotesquely beautiful... if that made any sense at all. Love the work.

How long did this take you, just out of curiosity?

Thank you much. It's tough to say how long this took me. I have been working on it for the past few weeks for about 2-3 hours a day, sometimes more. Mixed media is a long process, so that's mainly what takes so long. Anyway, glad you enjoy. Thank you.

I totally don't know where to begin.
The colour is the first thing that gets me. Warm and cool colours together often make a piece look a tad trashy, but you've managed to avoid that situation quite superbly by having the warmer color appear as the initial central focus and using the cooler shades around it and in the middle.
All of the fine details (the insects and such) do an excellent job in bringing out that overall feel of rotting and decay that consumes the mood of the piece. The blending of the red+green is also excellent in bringing out that mood.
The entire unity of the piece is terrific. Everything comes together very nicely and without flaw, which says a lot because mixed media projects are usually quite notorious for having things feel out of place.
I like the flower and think that it is an excellent addition. It gives a striking feeling of hope beyond ruin (or ruin beyond hope - depends on perspective, I guess).
In conclusion, I have nothing to say other than this is easily my favourite work of yours. Keep up the awesome work!
