Description: All though most die of disease and or completion, these tuns gulpers can live to be 500 years old, and grow over 12 feet in length. They have 4 gills analogous to gills of earth Their skin texture is similar that of the earth mammal, rhinocerosThey have a thick, hard skin/beak structure around their mouths, as on their planet, the ocean’s ecosystem was rather competitive, and many fauna, including other turn gulpers, would often attack the bottom jaws, as that is where the (closet to a) brain is located. They have 4 eyes, 2 on the face, as to find and lock onto prey, and 2 on the side of the body, as to watch for larger predators (again with the competitive oceans). They also have 2 nostrils that do not take in air, but rather are just receptors similar to nostrils. They also have 6 fins, 4 front fins , 2 back fins. As with most life on Deroth, they have 3 jaws. 2 lower jaws, and 1 upper jaw. You can try to mimic how the mouth works by trying to clap whilst holding your wrist and thumbs togetherMost turn gulpers only get to be 2-6 years old before dying, specifically due to a very popular act in their species called “cannibalism”. Due to most young turn gulpers only being inches in length, they often act as flora eaters, as their diet is omnivorous. When growing older, they tend to mix their diet between smaller fauna and flora, but once a turn gulper manages to pass the 8 year barrier, they start to grow rapidly, and therefore start relying on fauna a lot more than flora, to the point where individuals might even become fully carnivorous. The reason they are called “Turn Gulpers” is because of their fun way of hunting. They have specially adapted spines that specialize in turning at extreme speeds, and opening their mouth very widely, and then sucking in the water around them, hopefully their prey with them. Once the prey is within the mouth, often the Turning Gulper, well, gulps them whole. The only way this is not a case, is when they cannot fit the prey down their throat, in which they will chew the prey, and then suck in down instead.
