A sketch of Geno I made during Santiago Anifest 2011.This is a question for Mario RPG experts....where the hell are Johnathan Jones eyes? Inside the teeth? Is that patch like eye he has? The oficial render was never clear and looks like nobody really knows...

To answer your question, it appears he doesn't have eyes at all. I always figured they were small (like a real shark's eyes), they may be hidden under his brow line. (Like a perpetual scowl), thus mimicking how eyes of an actual shark are a little low, and closer to his mouth.
The bright orange thing in his mouth... I'm baffled by that.

I think his eyes are behind the eye patch and then the other is plain... It wouldn't make sense to have a guy in a shark suit commanding a bunch of actual shark pirates. Plus the official art just isn't clear in showing that the thing in his mouth is just the glow from his mouth backside.
Are ya thinking about drawing him? Is that why? xD
But anyways great Geno, wasn't sure if I was going to see him from you anymore!
