Speedart!so wow, a new mob for snapshot 18w11a! I imagine it as some sort of drowned undead, once human, forever cursed to wander the depths of the ocean. or some deep shit like that
anyway, it seems really lonely to me so I made it look quite sad haha. The best part about this piece was probably drawing the seaweed; that was really fun to do and had me explore SAI's brush textures in the process, so guess i learned something new there. my least favorite part is the ribs...i don't like how they came out but i'm too lazy to figure out what's wrong with them rip. so that's that
I suppose this is some continuation to my Vex piece I did yesterday (what?? two minecraft drawings in a row? dang). I still like that piece better, idk :/ but this one isn't that bad either i guess.

This is really neat! I have my own head-canon on these guys for my fanwork, that they were the advanced ancient civilization that built the present day underwater ruins and sea temples. They had a plan to give themselves immortality as their civilization was destroyed and unfortunately for them, it...worked. Once the proud Kingdom of Liav, now mindless monsters. Also, those ruins and sea temples...they didn't start out below the water.

well drowned kinda reveals something creepy.. since zombies can drown and become drowned, that means the zombie was still somewhat alive O.o

You really did the glowing blue features justice, very amazing. How you depicted the kelp on them and especially in the background is really cool! You did an awesome job with your colors to convey just how sad the poor Drowned is.
I think the ribs fit into the feel of your style, I also like how you have them glowing.
I feel like you'd draw an amazing Phantom if you wished to do so!

aaa thank you!! i struggled a lot with making the blue/brown colours work out, i'm glad you think it did ^^ also with the ribs, i wasn't sure about that design choice either and tbh still not sure now, rip.

Yeah, you did a good job making all the colors work! It made me realize that you do an excellent job at preventing your colors from becoming murky.

But honestly that's a nifty idea, especially adding a visual representation of reality's code being changed. As 1.13 was to be the Technical Update but got the Aquatic Update combined into it and all that jazz. I am a major minecraft nerd if you couldn't tell.
