It easy to forget that he is human.
The complexity of a thousand universes lie in his eyes,
With the simplicity of he and I walking along busy streets.
The gravity of a thousand galaxies on his beautifully broad shoulders.
It is easy to forget that he is human.
As he shoulders my own galaxy, soothing away my perplexities with his gently harsh words.
These walks echo fury, sound, laughter and silence.
The deep-rooted emotion I feel for him like strangeness
Filling me with unmistakable warmth.
The pain of my hair pulled back too tightly all but fades.
I don’t need to stretch my face into a heavy smile.
With him, I can be what I hide. Truth rears its ugly head at his coaxing smile.
The facade falls away as beads of perspiration dot my brow. My muscles scream in abject misery.
He calls my fearful mind to attention with laconic sighs and heady whispering.
These walks are healing and pain and torture and joy, regret and celebration.
These walks are open-heart surgery in the noonday sun.
