But I thought that Daily Deviations were supposed to mean something. I thought that they were supposed to be reserved for extremely professional-grade artists, and for art that EVERYONE can agree is absolutely amazing. Don't get me wrong, you have plenty of skill- but... you're not quite there yet. (I'm not saying I deserve one either, don't take this the wrong way.)
I respectfully feel like this piece of art is definitely not up to the Daily Deviation standard.
Look, I don't even draw humans very often. I have much to learn still myself. But even with my little experience I can tell that the anatomy of the wings is very inaccurate, the hips are much too wide and and nearly look dislocated because of the awkward angle they are at, Dave is too slanted overall and looks like he is about to fall over, the muscle in his neck is shaded with MUCH too much contrast, the area where his hand fits into his pocket looks strange and awkward, and many other things need help.
You are a good artist already, you have a lot of potential. This is a relatively attractive piece. You could go on to become an extremely professional artist.
But I feel like this only got a DD because the person who featured it is a Homestuck. I am also a Homestuck, but I strongly frown upon nepotism like this regarding art on this website.
I hope you don't find what I said too offensive, though I know you probably will, and I'm sorry for that.

What a nice and interesting row of conversations we've got here.
I would like to clear up my own point of view now, may I?
Firstly, I'm incredibly thankful to ^Lyricanna for featuring my piece as a DD and giving me the chance to be seen by a wider audience on this website. I am fully aware of the fact that my art is not yet perfect, that I've got a lot left to learn and that i have made several mistakes on this piece, and that I have already grown with the mistakes already made. But in all honesty, and i strongly believe most of artists, professionals and hobbyists both will agree with me, art cannot be perfected, there will always be someone who is going to find mistakes in your work, or simply not like it.
That's what makes art fascinating to me, there is no 100 percent positive or negative, and that's why other will have different opinions than you. And I would suggest in all friendliness that you should try to learn to accept it. I wouldn't have this piece featured myself manily because of it's flaws, and because i know i can do way better now. Like this, for example but it's amazing to know that other people still not only see the mistakes but the good parts in it.
This knowledge helps an artist to struggle more and improve their skills.
And I personally think, this is what DDs are mainly about, sharing pieces of artwork that different people with an eye for the details find interesting, pushing an artist's self esteem, doesn't matter whose artwork is better in someone else's opinion. A given DD is not only about perfection and featuring the best of the best, it's about sharing and bringing details, potential and dedication to art closer to the rest of the community.
Secondly, I would like to inform you that I am indeed a professional and that I'm doing my artwork for a living. I do believe that my traditional painting skills are outstanding ones, not perfect, but the massive amount of positive feedback that my art received here, on facebook and on tumblr, tells me that I'm on the best way to perfectioning myself.

I assume in a few years they're going to be worse than what I'm going to paint then, but I do think that my techniques are already unique and remarkable, my shading and colouring are already very good, and being called a random artist and reading things like "i could produce the same drawing more effectively than Psychocereals has" does sort of does offend me, i admit.
And I do believe that it's out of question why phrases like this are hurtful.
Thirdly, there are several wonderful artist whose anatomy isn't perfect, the wings case especially. Have you ever heard of Sulamith Wülfing? She does marvelous art in my opinion, with a lot of emotion and depth. Her anatomy is by far not perfect, but that does not mean she's not a worthy artist. The overall composition of an artwork is most important.
But that aside, I do hope you understand my points. Don't try to push too hard and please don't forget that not everyone has to agree with you, and that open-mindedness is often worth just as much as gold is.
