Description
A lone swimmer breaks the surface of the pool with a couple of strokes.I drew this in Xara X as usual, but I spent much longer than I usually spend on a picture. I split the drawing between several layers seperating the bottom of the pool and the surface reflections etc.
I had photographic reference for drawing the figure but the pool and the room are entirely constructed from imagination... possibly not a good idea...

You should get your hands on Xara. That's what I used for this pic - which is btw by far the most ambitious vector I've ever attempted, and I'm not sure if I've ever done anything to equal it since... anyway that easy-to-use app eased the pain!

Great work! The reflectiveness in the water and windows looks great. The translucencies turned out great too. I REALLY like the water effects. I also like the "Pool Rules" sign. The splashing was well done, in my opinion. Very appropriate for the speed at which the swimmer seems to be going, a leisurely pace (which suits the whole picture in general, by the way) because it looks like the splashing is small and choppy. I think the water could look a ~little~ better, but I understand that it would take a huge amount of work to get it to look much better than it does. Water is VERY hard to draw...

very impressive work. Great job on the ripples, they look fantastic. Original and simple. Works very well. Possibly the only thing that bothers me, are the signs on the walls. They detract visually from the piece. A little distracting I think. That aside, it's a great piece.

Everything in this picture reminds me of glass - the water, the walls - it's all so pristine and bright! And the focus is more on the room itself, rather than the swimmer... ...in fact, the swimmer seems like it's part of the waves (the peach and white work well together to almost disguise the swimmer). This is extremely impressive, especially because of all of the vectors! Well done!

I don't really know what to say. I don't like to post comments without giving my opinion on what is good and what is bad, otherwise the comment is of little help to the artist, but I feel I have to say something.
It's beautiful, the style is great, it looks pretty realistic and it's one of the best vectors I've seen on DA. I'm adding it to my favorites because I want to be able to see it again and again and again.
I think the closer side of the pool would look better if it were straight. But it looks great as it is.

I like this vector a lot, well deserved DD. I know how hard it can be making waves on water and reflection in vector myself.
I love the ladder handles, looks smoooth. Only thing that lets it down is the long corridor of nothing in the background, maybe put a few doors on the walls and some people walking up and down? Just a suggestion
