Arthas Menethil, the Lich king....One of the coolest villains of the warcraft saga (when he was alive he was a pain in the ass)But after he got the Legendary Frostmourne, he became so much cooler...Too bad he killed Muradin Bronzebeard. Another cool character.
hahah but when he kills uther, uther says: -"I hope there is a very special place in hell for you arthas" and arthas says: -"We might never know uther...I plan on living forever". SO awesome.
Frostmourne *drools* i wish we could get in World of Warcraft. But that would be too overpower.

talk about Warcraft CRAZE.
But you know. i'm SO happy about this one...I planned it through art history class. thinking "wow man, i hope this turns out the way i'm picturing it". After a lot of careful drawing (the best i can do, at least) it came through, it i'm not being cocky or anything, but i believe this is the best drawing i ever did. Everything i wanted to do, i was able to.
With a lot of back and forth in Painter and Photoshop i pulled this one in about 8 or 9 hours. 10 Including the time i spend actually drawing it on paper.
[EDIT] : I just added some "Moderate snowfall" just to chill it a bit. hehe
so. summing up:
8 to 9 hours, Painter IX and Photoshop, wacom tablet and A LOT, i mean a lot of good music ^_^

i like this concept of Arthas... Muradin Bronzebeard is actually not dead...he was sent into a comma...but oh well....I want to own a figure of this character in the 12inch size but those i can never afford...

This was drawn in 2006. By the story deployed until that time, Muradin WAS dead. They retconned it later.

lol I hated Arthas. He started off as a pussy that wasn't too bad, but when he got Frostmourne he went on a super temper tantrum. He was so weak-willed he lost his soul to Ner'Zhul.
Illidan's been alive for centuries, was filled with ancient arcane magic as well as Gul'Dan's magic. There's no way Arthas could have beaten him - I was pretty pissed when it happened.

Ow I see the biggest wrong part of the hand apart from the pose: the thumb!
It's about as long as the other fingers, which is of course not quite accurate.
But now that I have the problem, I'll stop talking about this work.

I know I study anatomy, and maybe Pulyx is good I haven't seen his other works yet but an artist must get over critics and must learn out of them. I'm just trying to help with my critique.

Couldn't have said it better... The way the hand holds the sword is super. I hold lots of stuff like that and it's natural for me, doesn't hurt, I don't need flexible fingers... As for the thumb, it's long because of the perspective, the knuckles are pointing upwards and the thumb just looks longer, because it's begins further back from the other fingers.

I'm very sorry to tell you this, but there is 1 thing that ruins it all.
The hand holding Frostmourne is an anatomical mess.
Even if it were possible to hold an object this way and I don't see it, it is probably the most irritating, unhandy pose and would require quite flexible fingers.
However, if I don't look at the hand, it's good.
Arthas' face might have been a bit more sinister but that's the only thing I can say apart from the hand.

the hand is not that bad, actually it is good, a hand can actually do that and theres nothing wrong with the way he's holding the sword, i think pulyx just wanted to do something different rather than the common way people hold swords. keep up the good work pulyx

Yes it has flaws. But i don't think its THAT bad.

Some people have those. I can do that with my hand.
it may not be the most natural pose but it's possible.
The face though..Its a thing of style. My art lacked a bit of detail (you can see the drawing isn't very fresh. 3 years is a lot in art years.
I still had some japanese influence and it showed on the drawing.

Maybe it's just me but I tend to be quite the criticaster when it comes to anatomy (however I'm not that good at it myself).
And well, the face.
We all have those periods, I'm still half in it.
And indeed, three years is quite some time.

This is pretty much amazing, Arthas is awesome and kicks any other warcraft villain in the butt (besides Illadin.).
You did a wonderful job on the background and facial expression beautiful work, but where did his helmet go!
That has to be my favorite part of his armer besides the shoulders, I think you should make one with him holding the helmet or with it on that would be epic.
