Live in most forested areas. Most common in rainforests. Omnivorous with a diet of rodents, birds, fruits and flowers. Are oftentimes crucial pollinators. Natural oils are sought after for paints and dyes.
Other notes:
Colorful year-round dragons that are a welcome sight in the cold winter months. Each Dayback's patterns are completely unique to the individual, even when born with an identical twin. It is still unclear how the patterns form, but newly born hatchlings are pearly white or pale gray, and develop them as they age.
The pouches on their legs secrete a bright oily substance that can stain one's hands for weeks. This oil comes in many colors and gives of a faint smell, each differing from dragon to dragon. The Daybacks rub their legs on trees, rocks and bushes in order to mark their territory. The oil's smell seems to be what indicates whose territory it is.
Because of how bright the oils are and how well they stain, ancient peoples quickly discovered it could bring color to otherwise bland objects. Dayback oil is still used in most dyes and paints today, often harvested via scraping or rubbing the pouches gently with a flat object or rag. It's thanks mostly to their kind demeanor and the fact they seem to enjoy a good scratch that this is able to happen.
Abilities include prehensile tails and colorful natural oils.
