Okay! Well, I believe that they don't actually lose their hearts. One theory is that they lose the darkness as a Heartless, and since they're not princesses of heart (obviously xD), they can't handle having no darkness, and it throws them off balance. The second is that they lose the darkness AND the light, and they have hearts, but they're empty shells. The darkness becomes a Heartless, and just the light floats up to Kingdom Hearts. Either way, I believe that they definitely have emotions. ^_^;
