getting up at 2am and writing essays secretly cuz you told your parents that you had no homework so you could draw longer helps

Your speedpaints are far better than my "spent days on them" paints. So very talented you are.

aah, please, don't use the word talent around me.! X'D
I don't think talent exists :3 In my humble opinion I think that talent is a word that was designed to make answering questions about art easier, kinda like how luck is used to explain chance events... again just in my opinion XD
For me, I think that really the only two important things to do to improve your art skills is to
1. enjoy what you do, so you constantly feel compelled to push yourself further I probably spend half my class time drawing >.>, and three quarters of chill time drawing too
aaaand 2. is to constantly try new things My teachers would always be like, oh you draw digitally? try something different, like, say, tissue paper collage. I mean, if you have to push yourself to try different things, there's no *other* person there that you might feel compelled to please- it's just for yourself when you're experimenting, which ties in to point 1
..but yeah, a kinda roundabout way to explain how i feel about the word 'talent'. I believe there's such a thing as skill, and maybe soul (by which i mean the personal connection and meaning your art holds for you), but that's it really i feel If you enjoy what you do, and you're trying new things and pushing yourself, then I think there's really nothing special about, for instance, these landscapes I did here XD I never really tried doing photo reference painting, and my colour and composition suffered for it. That's why I'm trying to do more of that stuff
...anyway, sorry about the wall of text <.< I kinda tend to go off on a tangent, so don't by any means frel obliged to have to respond to this I know I often have trouble responding to longer comments
