I know some asian eat rays. I can easily found them here in local market. The one they sell in local market, here, is the one with Least Concern Conservation Status by IUCN.
But still I know somewhere out there people still hunt the endangered one. They make wallet from rays's skin, make an oil, ate them because some believe that they good for your stamina.
Here in Indonesia people also ate sharks (baby shark), not very common tho. As an Indonesian, I'am very ashamed of this.
