Soooo... what have I been working on all semester at school? Well a couple of series that is. And now that those series are coming to completion I can start posting them.This is from a series of fantasy portraits done for my interpretive illustration class. Basically I used people in my class as models and turned them into fairies - fairies that embody the seasons.
I used a Gulf Fritillary butterfly as reference for the fairy wings in this one.

I've had these four Ladies of the Seasons sitting in my devwatch since you posted them... I was debating 
The reason I choose this one over the other three as a fav is simply because I like the red. All four are solid use of technique and any critique would be splitting hairs. There will always be those little "flaws" that only you as the artist sees. To me, they are all alike yet entirely different. I suppose that's what makes a strong art series... if that makes any sense.
All is all, awesome pastel work.

I quite like the winter one too. It's just not my favourite of them, I guess because I have the originals with me and the winter one was the first of the series I did. So when I look at it I can see all the stuff I figured out how to do better by the time I got to the autumn piece.

such a wonderful idea for a series, ive been trying to do one for the seasons with faries via photomanips but if you can draw ll the power to ya, cause I try to draw and fail LOL, the only thing I Could say about improving the pic would be, people have heads too..w.hat does that mean?...give her more a forehead and a little more top to her head ^_^, a common mistake so dont feel bad, I love the colors and composure...fav for you ^^

Thank you very much! I can see what you're saying about the shape of her head, she doesn't have much bulk up there. Maybe it's because she has really flat hair, who knows? XD
In regards to the forehead, though, I think she'd have too much forehead if I raised her hairline anymore. I think part of it has to do with the fact that it's a portrait. If I changed the hairline it wouldn't look quite like her anymore and because of that it wouldn't look quite right to me.

I don't like this as much as winter... she's a bit... crooked... without being crooked... very uncomfortable effect. And a little pale, and I don't like the sleeves... but composition is great, your technique is very good and I'm sure she looks just like the model

Thank you very much! I know what you're saying about the crooked without being crooked thing. I think there's something up with her body's proportions but I can't quite put my finger on it - and my teacher who's normally a nit-pick-a-saurus didn't pick up on it, so what can I say... XD As for the paleness, I don't know if you've got any red-head friends, but they ones I have are all REALLY pale - so she looks just right to me. LOL

I was thinking of the autumn forest... I think of dark, brownish autumns, spicy, deep maroons, burgundys, golds and browns... and your autumn is very airy and fresh

Oh okay, I get it! I always kind of think of autumn as spring but backwards. So I guess the airy and fresh feeling fits for me.
