"North" I found an amazing new spot, it's way out of town and should have 0% light pollution. I was hoping to do some starscape photography and you can't actually tell from this photo because it looks deceptively calm but unfortunately a gale force wind came up out of nowhere and reaped absolute havoc on all my carefully laid out plans for the evening, it blew over my tripod which is reasonably heavy (thankfully the camera wasn't mounted on it at the time) and then I had to chase my chair down the bank after it was blown to kingdom come too... my camera bag was on the chair at the time and it is incredibly heavy as it holds two cameras with lenses mounted, two flash heads, two spare lenses and a large water bottle. I'm not sure exactly what it weighs but I would estimate somewhere about 7 to 9Kg and it got blown off the chair... thankfully the bag was fully zipped up at the time and nothing was damaged but it was a fairly miserable experience made even more miserable by the fact that I had my dog with me and she was just a freezing cold shivering mess so I had to stick her in my jacket and attempt to keep her from freezing to death wile chasing my gear about and stop it from blowing away... it was a pretty hilarious scene, I ended up admitting defeat in fairly short order and heading home as it was pretty clear the weather was only going to get worse, I'll be back though, hopefully my next adventure to this spot won't be quite so adventurous LOL.
