Description For the upcoming release of the Final Fantasy RPG 3rd Edition . Illustration for a playable race.

Updated Race Illo -~- Pen and Marker tones.

Smaller and slighter than humans, Creimire trace their ancestry to rats and mice, a fact made readily apparent by their physical appearance; at first glance, an unking observer would be tempted to dismiss them as vermin who've masterd the art of walking upright.

I kind of missed when Final Fantasy had some decent non-human races. I swear, they make all these cat-like races in the later games, but they're all way too human. Except for cat ears and maybe a tail, they never actually look anything like cats. Just humans with cat ears and tails.

They did have a rat species in FF9, although most of them died out except for a few characters, who possibly repopulated their species for all we know.

Yeah, they kind of lost the extra races since FFX. At least the Ronsos were more than just people with fuzzy ears.

These illos are fantastic! I do hope the people making the RPG have the proper permissions to do so though, it'd be a real shame if they got shut down for breach of IP. Still, that's not something you need to worry about at least

Thanks as for the IP thing, I'll quote the Returner FAQ

Is all this legal?
Not entirely; the FFRPG is not officially affiliated with Square of Japan, and has no endorsement as such. As the FFRPG uses a well-established -- and prominent -- brand name, and draws heavily on the works of programmers, artists, designers and scenario writers employed by Square over the years, Square would be within their rights to issue a cease-and-desist and order us to stop distributing this game.

However, we believe we have a number of factors in our favour. Firstly, the FFRPG does not infringe on Square's own revenues, nor those of its licensed subsidiaries. No official, licensed Final Fantasy RPG exists; nor has Square shown any interest in producing such a work. Pen-and-paper roleplaying is a relatively niche hobby within Japan; as a result, most RPG material within Japan is imported from the US and UK. A few exceptions do exist, but the quality of Japanese-written pen-and-paper RPGs as a whole is poor and compares unfavorably with Western efforts. Nor does the content of the FFRPG impinge on the sales of Square-made or -subsidised products, in the way that even the game guide/spoiler content on popular Square fansites hurts sales of licensed strategy guides. Secondly, we do not excessively abuse Square's media; all artwork in Third Edition material is original, and what little graphical material we use in this website does not feature recognisable characters. Finally, we've tried our hardest to ensure that the Third Edition FFRPG is a product consistent with Square's own high standards, and does the name 'Final Fantasy' justice.

There is also the fact that Japanese law is a little more easygoing on copyrights than its US counterparts; this is notable due to the number of small imprints publishing fan-comics using Square's characters, often in less-than-flattering situations. In a Western context, such works would not be tolerated under circumstances.

Does this give us legal immunity? No, and should we be ordered to withdraw our work, we would -- reluctantly -- do so. However, it is our hope that Square recognise this effort for what it is; a means of extending the vibrant universe created by Square's designers, an opportunity to draw new gamers into the worlds of Final Fantasy, and a tribute to one of the finest roleplaying series in the history of gaming.

Hmm... well, provided they aren't making a profit on the game I personally don't mind, I just hope Square don't decide to tighten the ol' thumbscrews. As they say though, copyright laws do seem pretty lax in Japan.

They're so lovely. I always loved the Nezumi race. Freya was always just AWESOME. They look fantastic. I love how you portray them. Fantastic attention to detail, as usual.

yeah, Freya's race...right? It's been ages since last paid attention to FF and 9 was the last I ever played. These look awsome though.
