So I've been sick all week and during that time I just, watched Steven Universe and I just adore Captain Lars and the Off Colors. Enough so that I binged everything I could find with them be it fanfictions or art (there is not enough). In doing so I came up with a fun headcanon with Lars in that all the gems think he's a gem. No one has a clue what he is but they all draw up their own conclusions to what he is and he and the Off Colors don't correct anyone. Of course everyone is horrendously wrong but it keeps their advantage of Lars being undetectable.

Oh, oh! The top one! I imagine that one was during the Cosmic Jubilee where he impersonated an imperial officer. A Pezzottaite which is of higher standing than Emerald. He needed to keep her preoccupied so the others could get away so he sweet talked her a bit and probably got her to dance just to distract here and she was a bit charmed despite having seen him before and just doesn't recognize him.

Ah right the gem on his stomach! That's a belt that matches his skin tone and a pink painted belt buckle, it's not even painted well but it fools the gems.
