Description
The first of three portraits I'm doing of my grandchildren for their parents for Christmas, so please, keep it under your hat! Here she is on vacation in Hawaii, choosing her souvenir - the hat!Coloured pencil, 11 x 14", 17 hours. I had wanted to do graphite, but my reference was poor quality and I couldn't get enough contrast to make a satisfactory pencil drawing. So lucky them, they get a colour portrait.

Thanks so much! Do you see what I mean about the spaghetti hair though? It was hard because it's so light, if I add much detail it looks too dark. I usually add some flyaways to give it a more realistic look, but I didn't know how to make them on the light hair in pencil crayon. I still have a lot to learn.

Yo can use an electric eraser for that flyaways! That's what I use in my drawings.
